Currently Disgruntled about headset options for XBOX One. Wanting opinions of Other Players

Thank you, lol. I've had Xbox 1 since Launch and remember when Xbox 1 had only Stereo Uncompressed and no Dolby support. It sounded weird. They rolled out Dolby support a few weeks later, I love it. Add to that I just got the Turtle Beach Stealth 500x today
which has wireless DTS 7.1 surround sound. And the headset works game sound AND chat, on Xbox 360! Haven't tested it on Xbox 1 yet. But they are kinda pricy, NZ$358 from the NZ retailer I got it from, or US$229 on turtle beaches website.

 

The afterglows are well built and since there are no wires your mic won't stop working which has what happened with both of my sets of the MS stereo headsets.

 

Thanks all for the Replies. Davey, I currently have the PDP Afterglow Karga wired model and its been decent. I may check into their Wireless one. My biggest complaint is as to why the Xbox Models from Turtle Beach usually cost like 25-30% more than their
counterparts for PC and Playstation. I like their Headsets, several friends of mine have them and like them. I just feel shafted having to spend more for what is basically the same product just because I own a different platform

If you talk to TB about it, they will tell you its a different product, there ignorance is astonishing.

 

I spoke with TB Support, they said the TB Stealth 500x is not compatible with Xbox 360, only Xbox One. They are wrong! I spoke with Xbox Support, and they said Xbox 360 supports DTS 7.1. My 500x works on BOTH Xbox 360 and Xbox 1. BOTH CHAT & DTS sound. I
like a dolby headset which I can use both on Xbox 360 and Xbox 1 which has chat ability. TB is probably like a home business that's why their customer service may not be anywhere as good as say a more bigger company like Microsoft. But you do have to admit,
TB do make some amazing headsets.

 

TB is a business and an international brand, imo it wasn't bad customer service, its being to big for your boots.

If you have a kinect connected you show you have a mic, regardless of headset, and I think but I am unsure but it still shows up when the mic is switched off.

 

I rarely use my mic which came with my Day 1 Xbox 1 edition console, I prefer using my Kinect. But my friends can tell when I use my Kinect because of the echo. I use to own the Xbox 360 wireless Bluetooth headset, it looks kwl, but it has cheap Voice Receptors
and I had to shout into it, and I'm not the only one who experienced this.

I must say the turtle beach stealth 500X is very good. The subwoofer sounds, sounds which you wouldn't normally hear. It has a variety of presets and settings too. If you want to use chat for turtle beach stealth 500x on Xbox 360, you have to attach a chat
cable from the headset to your 360 controller but chat works fine, with Xbox 1 chat is wireless. DTS 7.1 channel Game Sound works on both 360 and Xbox 1. I don't think TB Support is bad, but when you compare it to Xbox Support, Xbox is way better. They have
phone numbers, chat, email, etc. I got a confirmation email from TB saying they answer emails on a first in first replied like bases and to allow 10 days (!!!) for reply and they reply 9-5 US time where as Xbox provides Support outside of 9-5 US time.

Xbox 1 came out November 2013 and it's only February 2016. Microsoft might make more headsets for Xbox, but I don't think it's really their forte. Regarding the headset/mic which came with my controller, the chat cable that the basic headset with the Day
1 Edition Xbox 1 console, is made out of a flexible soft rubbery chord which I like and to me it's more flexible softer and perhaps durable than conventional chat cables. I also have the turtle beach (I can't keep quiet about them but many use the brand) x42
but last week the hinge connecting the left ear *** to the headband broke (it's like a thin plastic joint connecting it to the headband). TB New Zealand's Distributor said they unfortunately don't do repairs on that and to try strong super glue or duct tape.
I feel like peps reading this may get a bit of a laugh...

If you want a good headset, go for TB. A lot of peps use it for Xbox and other stuff.

When I play multiplayer in Destiny, people are telling me that some kind of indicator is telling them that I have a Mic on.

hmm, not sure tbh, however in destiny if your in a party the mic doesn't show, so maybe just go into a party and set it to invite only.
