Current state of Xbox One and MS in my eyes, compared to XBOX and XBOX 360 and MS.

    First off the great things.

I bought my XBOX because it was superior hardware than the PS at the time, I knew it could do more with the hard drive etc... So, because it "could" I trusted that MS would deliver and they did. They did that in spades. I wanted a more "mature" gaming
system that provided something different than N or S and their consoles and I got it. MS knew it needed to go out and get some amazing exclusive games and it did it.

    Halo

    Halo 2

The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay

Deathrow - STILL waiting for a sequel...

    Deus Ex: Invisible War

    Fable

    Gladius

    Jade Empire

    Ninja Gaiden

I'm doing to stop the list now at the N, but their are MANY more, you get the picture. Back then MS was bringing out AAA exclusives all the time for the "serious adult themed" gamer. WE loved them for it, we supported them for it and we all bought the XB360
because of it. Those are not "casual family" games, not even close. MS knew who it's core audience was, they went after a specific type of gamer.

The 360 seemed to continue that. They brought us exclusives like Mass Effect, Halo 3, Gears of War, etc... No it wasn't as dominant a list as the XBOX was for US, but still had reasons to buy. Both had those AAA "adult themed" games ready at launch of
    near launch.

We are years into the XBOX ONE and none of those exist, not one single stellar 1st party purely exclusive game that can rival ANY of those games mentioned on the XBOX or XBOX 360. What about in the near future? NOT ONE!!! So, it is clear to me as a consumer
that MS does NOT value me as a consumer. I am not their focus nor are my preferred game types.

Halo has fallen off the rails. It used to be a tactical adult shooter. NOW it's a jumping around shooting fest in pvp, more like Tribes than Halo, with all sorts of gadgets...

343 has lost tons of faith with the Halo fans because of the Master Chief Collection being utterly botched.

Halo 5 Guardians is the only exclusive coming out any time soon for XBOX ONE, see above on any of us trusting them again.

Now let's mention Indy games for a moment. MS went out and got some Indy games, that belong on a Sony system or a Nintendo system. None of them are of the game type I mentioned above. MS went after THAT market. There are numerous "adult themed" Indy
games on PC that could have easily been bought and brought over. SBTF for instance, is a brutal "Aliens" the movie themed FPS with permadeath. There are other "zombie" survival games on steam and other more "adult" games they could have also went after,
    but no...

Now look at the free games with GOLD offerings... none of them qualify for that type of game I was mentioning above, well because they don't exist so they cannot be offered for free even if they wanted too.

Now let's talk console. XBOX was built to be the best gaming machine possible with the most advanced features of any system to give the best possible gaming performance and it did. Developers ALWAYS want more power and they typically will choose the system
with the most power, MS proved that with the XBOX. Sony learned that and didn't let XBOX 360 be more powerful. This generation everyone knows hands down that that PS4 is a more powerful gaming machine. MS went after "casual family gamers" with the XBOX
ONE and tried forcing us all to buy a kinect for that purpose. MS lost a TON of fans because of that. They tried to fix it by finally saying ok you don't have to have your kinect connected, then they said ok... you don't have to buy one.

Now what is clear is this. MS had some change over at the top, new people came in with new ideas to go get those Wii customers... That's all find and dandy as long as you reaming TRUE to your core audience. They clearly have not done that. The XBOX lineup
and XBOX 360 lineup makes the XBOX ONE lineup look like a bad joke. In fact it seems like MS is pulling out of the console market entirely. After the botched idea of having a weaker machine and forcing "casual gaming kinect" they needed to double down on
getting games for the "core gamers" that have carried XBOX since the beginning. They have not done that.

Now I saw this coming with MS, based on the upcoming games at release. However, I have kids now, young kids so I said well I'll still get the 3rd party games and they were making Project Connect. This new amazing game creating software that was "free" to
play and create a near infinite amount of games that will constantly be releasing updates and new material. I figured I'm decent at coding, I'll make the kids a lot of cool games. After spending a few weeks making a few games for the kids, I could not longer
deny what I saw... it was a PAY to play "game". It took 30,000 points to "unlock" a new theme and I could earn 100-200 day by doing tedious repetitive tasks. Add up how many days I'd have to "Wait" for the content I wanted. I feel utterly betrayed by MS.
Sure I COULD spend real money on making games for the kids... I could do that on a PC, there are many game making softwares out there that cost money. Project Spark was claimed to be different.

Now sadly for MS I remember that MS LOST MONEY on the 360, and might have on the XBOX. They were giving us more bang for the buck. They were taking a hit for years until manufacturing costs were brought down. The XBOX ONE made a profit from the start. See
    the difference?

Add all that up and you have one utterly unhappy customer that at this point will never buy another MS console, I actually don't believe there will be one because of the utter lack of 1st party AAA game support for the XBOX ONE. I truly believe they are trying
to make as much money back as they can as they pull out of the console market, because it's hard to believe they could support the console less, such a paltry amount of AAA 1st party games in general, and ZERO of the type I desire.

MS your sales numbers prove what I'm saying. You are getting crushed and you deserve it. However, if you want to change my perception that you are bailing on the console market, which is dumb considering the business loses in so many other areas of MS, you
    need to do the following.

#1 Apologize and admit you have tried changing which consumers you wanted on your system, and regret going after the "kinect casual" gamers from the wii.

#2 Go out and BUY up exclusives for the types of games we core gamers want, force us to have to use the XBOX ONE if we want to play those games. That is how you gained market share and trust with the XBOX. You BOUGHT most of the best games and made us
play them on the XBOX. If you do not do that again, we will not stay and we sure will not come back.

You forgot the #1 thing about consoles, people want the BEST GAMES PERIOD on the BEST gaming console!

PS4 this generation has you utterly beat in that area so far, and you better change or it's over for you MS. I will not willingly come back, you're gonna have to force me by bringing the exclusive games I want to your system and I never bought a PS3...
I had no need all the games other than G of War, were on my 360. Not anymore...

This is not an opinion, these are facts backed up by market data, namely your massive lose of market share compared to last generation MS. So, no one can defend what you have done because it has cost you tons of business, that goes for the rest of you posters
as well. Doesn't matter if you like what they've done... the majority of people do not and they will go out of business appeasing the minority instead of the majority.

    :)

Has a long ways to go to be an Entertainment / Gaming system for the "Family"

For gaming, the xbox one may be a step ahead of the 360. For features and entertainment options, the Xbox One is a few steps back from the current 360. Sure they will get it up to snuff in the next 6 months but for a 'next gen' console for 500 dollars,
I am surprised how limited the non gaming features are compared to current gen.

    .

I actually walked by some Xbox Ones today and for a brief moment contemplated picking one up. However, I kept moving and will visit the store again once MS brings the Xbox One to at least the 360. That and there are still a few 360 games I'm playing and
enjoying. Our family will be waiting until MS gets the One fine tuned.

  3. sending a simple message is INCREDIBLY SLOW!

^ It is definitely one of the reasons that the PS4 will dominate the Xbox One till the end of this next gen, if MS doesn't make some significant revamps to the current state of the UI (in my opinion).

Minus the games, the Xbox 360's dashboard functionality is superior to the Xbox One's UI, overall. I can see why most 360 owners haven't made the change over yet.

  5. That was a well thought out and to the point read OP.

I'll say this in reply. Back in Umm.. Probably 2010 - I got wind of something strange when I read that M might be trying to sell it's Xbox division and concentrait soley on software.

At the time I never paid it much attention but it does shed some light on how things have progressed since 2002.

I sure hope they remain in the console market though for competition helps to push the market while also bringing down costs.

Okay, I will say this. Xbox is not selling the brand. Satya Nadella has confirmed this a little more than a year ago. (Although you never know for certain what is going on behind the curtain). But I don't believe it will.

Halo has actually become more adult oriented in the story mode. In PvP, yes it is far more jumpy jet packs and etc. But there has always been jumping in Halo.

Did you literally write S*ny has us beat in exclusives? We have a 5 to 2 advantage this year alone. They released Bloodborne and The Order. Ori and the Blind Forest (already released to fantastic reviews), Halo 5, Fable Legends, Rise of the Tomb Raider,
Forza Motorsports 6 are all coming.

I guess it is all on perspective. I understand your point. It can be frustrating this resolution-gate. I am just trying to give another point of view

  7. OP, I'd like to introduce you to Sunset Overdrive, Sunset Overdrive meet OP.

By the way, your whole post IS opinion, it is not fact and don't try and pass it off as so. I agree MS has messed up a bit this generation, but in no way do I feel that they have zero games of interest.

Also I feel like people like myself who only use the Xbox One for games are in the minority, I would be more than happy if Xbox only concentrated on games and had no apps etc. but I can bet the majority of people now love that Xbox can play Netflix, browse
the internet, play TV etc.and that's the market Xbox want, not just the gamers who want exclusives....

I view those things as added bonuses. I utilize the One mainly to play games, but I also like that I can continue to use the One if I want to watch Netflix, YouTube, HBO Go, etc etc.

  9. I think they have been focusing more on Windows 10 for Xbox One, and other devices. Which is why they have not had other games.

The way they have been forcing us to install updates for Windows 10, so they can match the release date for fable, is unreal. But I do not think, in any way, that Microsoft is pulling out of the game (and Console) industry at all.

I must admit, they have made a mistake by trying to go for "Everyone", as you can not win everyone. But with the line-up they have. I think they have a high chance of pulling back Current state of Xbox One and MS in my eyes, compared to XBOX and XBOX 360 and MS. :)

Since when did Microsoft tries to go appeal to the casual gaming market, I thought casual gamers moved on to tablets and smartphones after the Wii wasn't that great?

lets see what happens later this year when they roll out win10 and dx12, lets see if the game roster kicks up in speed, at the moment i think there are enough games out that are good, maybe to many as it is getting swamped meaning there will be less people
    playing each game.
