    Current State of 4K Game Capture Issue


    It's easy to see that many people on this subreddit are upset and frustrated that their once-capable Xbox One X systems could capture 4K HDR footage at 60fps for a long time, only for the capability to be taken away from them due to some odd OS glitch that is taking an oddly-long time to solve.

    I'm also sure that many are mad that the current "fix" in the builds (Delta is currently 2006.200610-0000 as of June 12) is to just default to recording a 1080p 30fps SDR clip in the event that 4K HDR/SDR fails to record (which, at this point in time, now fails 100% of the time).

    I like many am finding it hard to be patient in this time, since I also use this feature to capture high-quality clips for editing into videos to share online, and don't want to spend $250 on a 4K 30fps capture card (Avermedia) or $400 on a 4K 60fps card (elgato).

    But please, keep on reporting this issue every time you try to capture a clip. I've been doing it daily right as I boot up a game to make sure the problem is still there. The more people that report it, the more likely it is the engineers will get the data they need to finally re-enable the recording process in 4K.

    Any time soon can we expect update with fix for 4K capture?

    At this moment our only option is to capture 1080p 30fps and it is
    really bad for gaming in modern days, 4K 60fps is just standard for gaming now days. I see on my channel significant drop in traffic when I upload 1080p 30fps.

    I bought Xbox one X just because of 4K capture feature and
    nowexperience this issue with no
    solutions for days.

    Why are you wanting to capture at 4K? the Xbox One S doesnt render any game at 4k, so all you will be doing is capturing an upscaled image.

    thanks I saw that QUEENMISFITS. however that's the post i used to get to where I am now. it did not solve the issue for me that I am facing and in that article it states

    "On the Broadcast & capture screen, select "Game clip resolution" then select 4K SDR, or 4K HDR. 4K SDR will record videos in a standard colorspace, while 4K HDR will record them in High Dynamic Range,
    making them viewable in full detail only by those with HDR-compatible TVs."

    So it explains a little about the difference between 4K SHD and UHD color space but not why the saved file is coming out as 1080p when my settings are clearly set to 4k.

    4K Capture is is broken after last update (15.5) we are waiting for new update with fix for that issue.
