Current bandwidth usage not correct. HUGE multiplayer issue.

Hi,

So for the last month I have been having problems with my Xbox. I started noticing the latency of games become consistently bad, really laggy and jumpy, which never occurred before.

I though it may be my internet even though I was speedtesting about 20dw and 20up consistently. I tried another connection (fiber broadband) and the problem persisted. I have tried wired and wireless but there still seems to be HUGE latency, which wasn't
there before while playing online

I reset the console and kept all my games. It didn't work.

So I have decided to do a full factory reset. Now 4 hours ago I started downloading Gears of war again.

The current usage has consistently said that I have speeds of 20mbps+, as I have been watching it. This does not correspond to the amount downloaded as I am on about 50% through the installation.

Surely if it were 20mps if it would be done within the hour? 20x60 seconds x60 minutes =72,000 mb?

Because of this I guess it lies to me while playing online at the moment and that's why I lag.

I am a very unhappy customer and as the owner of a large business I am appalled at the efforts of the operators for support. If this continues and I am not supplied with a fix or a new Xbox and compensation I will make sure I but all of my employees a PS4
instead of an Xbox!!

Huge bandwidth usage

I did some more testing and the bandwith usage goes up as soon as i sign in my xbox live account, if i stayed sign out, but the xbox on and pluged to my router there is no traffic, which is obviously normal.

Next hour, i'll sign in my account and play Halo:Reach in the solo campaign and i'll check what will be my bandwith usage after.

Does it still use 1GB per hour when in a non-multiplayer game like Skyrim?

My console is connected to a gigabit switch and the light on the switch blinks fast whenever one of the video ads are displayed suggesting that they are being constantly streamed.

Still don't know if they could use 1GB an hour as I have no way of testing how much it is using because my ISP usage counter only updates every 24 hours.

But have you tried going to the dashboards privacy settings and switching content filtering to Family?

Family doesn't seem to have as many video ads as standard mode so maybe that will use less bandwidth.

Sorry you're having issues with your downloads. Very odd that you're seeing the same results on multiple networks.Where are you seeing the 20Mb down and up? Is this in the Xbox Network settings? If not, then I would suggest going to Settings, All Settings,
Network, then Detailed Network statistics to see what the Xbox is pulling up and down. In addition to download and upload speed you can check your latency to Xbox Live. If you have questions about the results, post a screenshot and someone from the community
can help explain your results to you. Also check your NAT type in the network section and make sure it's open. Another tool is the bandwidth usage, go to Settings, All Settings, Network, Network Settings, Bandwidth Usage. Here you should be able to do some
calculations as to how much bandwidth your Xbox is using vs what you should be seeing. See

I am viewing the results throught detailed network statistics. One minute I will be watching it download at the speed that it says on the 'Current usage' section and the next minute it will say the same speed but will fail to download 10mb in 30 minutes.

I have tried every troubleshooting tip on your website and there is nothing more I can do. This is the second Xbox that I have had and It would be a lot of effort to take it back. I have even tried taking it to another room, to see if there was some kind
of interference, but it didn't help

 

I just got my Xbox one replaced and am still finding the issue.

It now displays my 'Current bandwidth' at 23 mb/s but I can clearly see the download moving up at less than 10 mb every 5 seconds.

I am very confused.

 

If you're having issues with another Xbox, then it's likely your network. I understand you say that you've tried another network, but that is the most logical issue. If you can try even using your phone as a hotspot i'd recommend that. The only other solution
it could remotely be is an issue with your profile, which I've not seen. Also, are you watching the speeds change in real-time? If so what part of the Xbox are you using?

 

That's actually what I was thinking, it could be an issue with my profile. The hotspot has the same latency online with good speeds. Can you look into possible problems with my profile for me, it it possible some is ddossing or hacking my profile I'm any
way.

My profile is not the one I am using here, my Xbox gold gamertag it is BENEN WINWENEN

 

I'm not Microsoft, so no, and I'm not aware of any setting you can enable to throttle bandwidth. The best test would be to create a new profile and download a free game like DC Universe, or something else that's fairly large.
