Currency transition failure

Around I guess 2 months ago I was trying to change the locale of my Xbox 360 and unknowingly changed the region of my account to the United Kingdom from the United States. This was not much of a big deal at the time figuring I could just change the region
after the 3 month period was over considering I was not planning of adding money to my account. Skip to today and I received a $15 prepaid card for my Microsoft account which I planned on using to change my gamertag with. It was giving me errors when I was
trying to redeem the card on my console so I decided to redeem the card on the computer. Everything worked out well and said I had $15.52 (52 cents from previous purchase) on my Microsoft account. I assumed the currency would just convert to £ but when
I went to finalize my gamertag change, it said I had 0.00£ in my account, even though I still have $15.52 on the account.

When the 3 month period of waiting is over and I change the region, will the $15.52 remain there or will the account budget be wiped? Thanks.

Currency

I'm just wondering but, if I combine currency before the transition with currency after the transition, will I be taxed on the entire purchase or just on the currency after the transition?

MS Points will be switched to currency. The final transition will happen next year. In the interim you'll still be able to purchase MS Points cards and add them to your account. If your account has been switched to currency the points will immediately
be transitioned over.

After the full transition is complete you'll be able to use Paypal, a credit card or purchase currency cards from your local retailer.

It may have been a change in your area then, but when they switched to the currency system they did start having to add tax through the store. The only other thing I found may be related to the currency you had in the system if you still had currency from
before the switch. This is what I found on the FAQ about the transition to currency

Will I be taxed on the content that I buy in Xbox stores?

We will not apply taxes when you purchase content using currency that we add to your account at the time of the transition. However, when you use currency that you add to your account after the transition (including from Xbox gift cards), all appropriate
taxes will be applied to those purchases.

You cant access the currency as you used it before you migrated

it is only available tp your uk account currency is currently region locked probably due to ms not wanting to be a currency converter in which case you would lose something in the transition
