Curious event with backwards compatible title...

Specifically Black Ops: after inserting the disc in the console the required update downloaded. It then installed the disc or just downloaded the game from a server..which idk.

Anyways with the disc still in the console I played a few on-line matches and all seems to work normally... except that purely by accident I discovered that I can still play BO with out it's disc being in the console!

I tried to do that with Reach, GOW3, and GOW Judgement. However all of the require their respective discs to be in the console to play them. Is BO an exception or has something weird going on here?

Can't find game I just purchased on Xbox website

Hello carlislemom2003,

360 demos of titles are not backwards compatible with the Xbox One. If you wish to play Sonic, you will need to purchase the full game title as that is what is backwards compatible.

The original Borderlands would play without the disc sometimes for me, then stopped after one of the updates.

Well that's an interesting turn of events. To think they'd actually stop with backwards compatible titles.

Its maybe for the best though, I hear its pretty difficult to hunt down the developers and get them to agree to get the games backwards compatible a lot of the time. Like they always want something ridiculous for the usage licenses or no one can ever agree
how to exactly bring the title up.

Sad day, but maybe its time to focus on new things.

Currently the game isn't backwards compatible on Xbox one/series, and the backward compatible program was announced to be ended on the Xbox anniversary event, was mentioned that it's not possible to get new licenses for more titles among other reasons
