Curious about the new dashboard and its intentions.

I played the demo, not too impressed

Play the demo, that'll probably change your mind your mind about getting the game. It's as far away from a flight sim as a jet fighter game can get. Even the lead designer admits they weren't trying to make a flight sim, he said they were going for an "FPS"
feel.

The risk is that I live in an area where people, especially high school / college age kids, love to beat their consoles. Literally. It's very hard to find a good used system. Last time I tried a used system around here, it was an original Xbox. I had to
trade it in a few times until I finally found one that lasted a whole year.

I have a local chain that's really good about honoring their guarantees, I just don't have a lot of opportunities to get out and do exchanges these days, since I'm the primary care giver to my grandmother, who has a few health issues, including Alzheimer's.
And since the guarantees are only for a week or two, it's just annoying if I end up with a system that was abused.

You are right, though. Playstations are fairly rugged. I know some people that bough used PSOnes for CD players. There are audiophiles out there that swear by them.

Whats the big risk in ps2.

along with the ps1 they were the most reliable consoles ever.

you can pick one up for an extremely cheap price now on ebay with thousands of games to choose from.

i still have mine wired up,even though i have an xbox360 and ps3.
