Curiosity Stream on xbox one

I would like to be able to watch curiosity stream (https://curiositystream.com/) on my xbox. Is this going to be available sometime soon?

Still issues and no update...unless it was a secret update that no-one knows about...

About these specifics, we are both running the same os (Windows 8 64bit) both laptops are identical in specs and the Elite has the most recent dashboard...

Just out of curiosity, how many machines can you have connected to the xbox to stream?

 

I asked them that a year ago, said they are working on it.

I guess most of their customers are Roku fanboys or ugh apple fanboys.

So what is the status?

I am happy to inform you that we just launched our Xbox one app 10 days ago. We will make an announcement soon. In its current form, it may lack a few functions (watchlist) and have a few bugs, but those issues should be fixed within the next week.

 

Hi tonyp1454! As mentionned above, the app is now available on the store (for xbox one only) and should be updated very soon.

 

I just joined, and noticed the missing features on Xbox...Will my android app be able to cast to the Xbox app, like You Tube and Netflix do in the near future

 

I just downloaded it for my 7 day trial today, and there are some functionality suggestions I'd make, if you're interested. So far, playback freezes during every title I've tried to watch, sometimes just for a second or two, others until you monkey with
it several times for several minutes, so either (I hope) there's still some dust to be brushed off it's newness, or I'm doing something wrong. I don't have cable, I use Netflix and Prime apps on XB1 all the time, they don't have these issues, so I'm guessing
it's just that it's still new, right?

 

Microsoft has turned this into an Xbox easter egg, that you have to go on a wild goose chase for.

I contacted XBOX support, called them, and they had never heard of this.

The curiositystream website, even the Microsoft website shows this as "Available On Xbox One" but when browsing and searching the store on your Xbox, it does not show as an available app.

Luckily I am a smart cookie, and was NOT going to take no for an answer on this.

I noticed when seeing the app available on Microsoft's website (from my phone [Google Pixle XL]) it had "Get" grayed out and said "This is not available for your device". However when you scroll down it says "Available On" "XBOX ONE".

So this got me thinking, what if I used the Xbox "Microsoft Edge" browser to to the Microsoft site and see if it will let me "Get" it, being that I will be on a device that it is available on.

Bingo! When clicking on the link to get the app, in the browser, it redirects you to the Xbox store and then gives you the option to get it, and install it.

Of course this was much easier for me because I have a chat pad connected to my Xbox controller, but if you have a wired, or wireless keyboard you can do the same thing and type in the Microsoft.com address and search curiositystream and it will come up.

Kind of a pain in the ass, and Microsoft needs to just put the app as a visible item in the list of 1000 Xbox apps, instead of leaving it on there sever for no one to see unless they go digging to the center of the earth to find it.

But! I certainly hope this helps everyone, I know when I played for curiosity and was unable to watch it right away on my Xbox I was frustrated, hence me going through the trouble of finding the work around!
