Crossplatform Multiplayer

I would never dismiss cross platform play. It would be a good way for players on opposing consoles to vent and connect, which would open a lot of doors (and eyes). It could even help bridge the gap in the community between the two and help people relate
to one another, showing each 'side' that most people are cool. So on that basis alone I support it. The genre of choice though, wouldn't be FPS. I don't think that's the right ingredient to start with for if this ever moves forward. Just my opinion there.

Even the guys making this game acknowledge it's a market so niche that they were pretty much banking on Cross Platform play to actually have enough people to make a game of it.

You might want to try pulling your own head out of the sand before you start trying to tell other people that they're blind.

It's so dark down there you're on a public internet forum claiming that the XBox ONE has no exclusive games.

I think you've banged your head.

Personally, I use terms X1, Xbox1, Xbox One. I don't think I have referred to it as The One yet but even if I did, so long as we all know what we are talking about then I don't see the name making much difference but then that's just my opinion.

It makes a difference because "the one" sounds corny and arrogant. It'd be one thing if it was dominating every other gaming platform but it's not, obviously.

I support Crossplatform play. I dont see any issues with it and i am really surprised microsoft is not supporting it.

I can see some issues with cross-platform play.

Patches would be one thing. Versions would need to be the same for people to play together, so what would happen if the patch was delayed on one platform?

Would they delay the patch for all platforms or leave the one to only play on its own?

^If they brought back cross platform support it would be for games like mmos not competitive shooters. Microsoft already tried that and it failed miserably.

Greetings all! . We plan in the very near future writing a number of petitions to the major console titans regarding the ill fates of the prior attempts on cross platform gaming, and asking them through large petitions to invest more efforts, energy and
resources in to making this happen. Cross Platform is the future of gaming, and the sooner the giants realize that we the people don't only desire this, but expect it, the better for the gaming community in general. Let's lead this off with a discussion regarding
future titles you would like to see be multiplayer cross platform. Titles like ESO, or Destiny for example. Let your voices be heard, and we will do our best, to make sure they are heard by the right people! Let the movement BEGIN!

Business is business.... I don't think MS dropped the ball. I think they're hanging onto the ball for their own sneaky reasons... And I don't blame them. They don't need to cross-platform. They don't have to cross-platform. They can do whatever they please

I definitely understand that. But I feel that crossplatform multiplay should be left up to the developer. If someone wants to make a FPS where PS4 and Xbox One plays together then it is up to the players to take it or leave it. I don't feel that inane limitations
like this should be put in place by Microsoft. They did such a good job remedying issues that players found with the Xbox One pre-release. And they have been on top of the ball regarding updates. But for full circle they need to re-review their policies. It
is silly, Square Enix -wanted- Final Fantasy 14 on the Xbox One, but Microsoft was "Nope, sorry, we don't want our gamers to play with people on other platforms". That is such a depressing though really. It is still great for me to fire up Final Fantasy 11
and be able to play with people from all corners of the internet regardless of the platform.

I can help but feel that an adjustment of such a policy would help Microsoft in the long run. I mean not getting a popular game because your policies prevent as such is -never- good business.

In all honestly I would rebuy many of my PC games for the Xbox One if a developer was to put it on the console with crossplatform play just because I love the controller alone. Now do keep in mind that is all up to if the developer wanted to port a game
to the Xbox One. But you are likelier a chance when one is able to than when the opportunity is an impossibility, yes?

Furthermore keeping gamers happy is how you maintain a revenue stream. At my current position with no prospective exclusives in the future, and polices that are doing more harm than good, I am definitely considering selling my Xbox One. What does that mean
for Microsoft exactly? 1. No more revenue from my for Xbox Live. And 2. A lost sale on an Xbox One as someone buys mine is out of the pool for buying one new. Now don't get e wrong, that is not much in the near limitless pocketbook of Microsoft, but enough
of such occurrences will cause harm. And it definitely doesn't help with how -relatively- poor the Xbox One is selling.

It is a similar situation to what I had with the Vita. Purchased it and played for a while. No games were coming out so I traded it for a 3DS. And now that they have games again I bought a -used- one for 100$. But you better believe I have only purchased
used games and not bother with PSN+ for the Vita.

Honestly though, how many people would you know would go out and buy a gaming platform after reading that the company behind it refused big-name titles? Anecdotal as it is, but I know several that have avoided the Xbox One for just that reason.

I'm all for cross-platform play, but it depends on the game. I don't fancy playing a FPS shooter against someone using a mouse. And the PS guys don't want to play against Xbox players because we are better (joking on the last
part).

Robborboy, if playing with friends is important to you, maybe you picked the wrong console?
