Cross-platform for child accounts don't work, no matter what settings I set

The cross-platform setting does not enable on a child account.

I have tried several options including:

• Account setup as a child in the MS family account and Xbox
• Account setup as a child in the MS family account but the Xbox settings all set to adult/unrestricted
• Account setup with over 18 Date of Birth in the MS family account but still a Child and the Xbox settings all set to adult/unrestricted
• Account setup as Adult in the MS family account and Xbox settings all set to adult/unrestricted
• Changing the child account to Adult and Xbox settings all set to adult/unrestricted.

Can someone help me how to set up my kid's accounts so they can play together?

Have you adjusted the privacy settings here:

Make sure you are logged in as the adult account.

There are settings here for communication and multiplayer games that may be still blocking your child's account.

 

On your adult account go here Sign in to your Microsoft account and click on the child's account and allow the option on the first page called "Share stuff people make (Xbox 360: Member Content)" to everyone
(must be everyone). Also, on the first page, "Others can communicate with voice, text, or invites" to Friends or Everybody. And on the xbox one/windows 10 tab the second option down, "Join multiplayer games", enable that. And then log out and in on the account
in question on the console/device and that account can play online.

It may be a privacy settings issue and that will fix that.

Changing age on the microsoft account will not affect the age of the xbox account - it's permanently connected to the first date of birth entered when creating your account. So that account will be a child account until it turns
18 (19 in Korea).

Sorry for the inconvenience but as stated above by flipside101:

All Microsoft accounts that are adult accounts should be eligible for cross play. The only accounts that have restrictions are the Microsoft child accounts. This is not a bug, Microsoft intentionally set up this barrier for
many reasons and plan on releasing a solution to change that option soon. As you know gaming on a computer or pc has different advantages than a gaming console and all children's accounts have been set up with maximum security to protect our younger customers
while they game online.

We do not have an estimated time frame on this issue at the moment. As soon as we find out more information; we will update everyone on the forums about this issue. Keep an eye out for our response as we are diligently working
on allowing parent accounts to manage cross platform play in the parental settings.
