Cross gen Co-op campaign issues?

I would like to know if I will be able to play my Xbox One S online in campaign co-op with my friend who is going to purchase a Xbox Series S? Will there be any problems with progression, save games etc for either of us? We will probably play Halo, gears of war borderlands etc

Cheers, that's kinda what i was thinking. Just wondering if anyone out there has had first hand experience of cross gen coop working / not working?

Newer games you might have issues with, but older ones, probably not.

I'm more a co-op player myself, I prefer Co-op Campaigns, co-op modes etc. That's why some of my favourite last gen games are the conflict series. Then it's Single player before Multiplayer.
