    Hello,

    I am writing to report a long-standing issue on the Xbox console that has remained unresolved for years.

    When attempting to download a game from my library (for example, Forza Motorsport 7), the download process does not begin as expected. Yesterday at approximately 6 PM, I selected “Install,” and by 3 PM the following day, the game had still not started downloading. Instead, the title remained stuck in the queue.

    The issue appears related to downloadable content (DLC). In the case of Forza Motorsport 7, there are more than 80 DLC items. Rather than prioritizing the actual game installation, the system attempts to process the large list of DLC first, which prevents the main game from downloading at all. This results in no progress being made—not even background downloads.

    This is extremely frustrating and unacceptable, particularly as it has persisted for years without resolution. At a minimum, when a customer chooses to install a game, the system should immediately prioritize downloading the base game so that it can be launched and played, regardless of the number of associated DLC items.

    I respectfully request that Microsoft address this issue, as it negatively impacts customers’ ability to access the products they have purchased.

    I tried updating NVIDIA drivers -- total of -1 effect on this one. #1 -- Sorry, Im not comfortable with leaving it out there turned off on WinDefender only for prolonged periods of time, and for #3 -- the precise reason i even NEED support, is that i CAN NOT UNISTALL GAME CLEARLY, and multiple times already explained whats getting in the way of doing clear installation
    PS Im now feeling bad for the single-digit number of overworked IT personnel going trough the MS Support forums, because I have no other ideas why each reply would take couple days to appear, the sole response happening on same day as my message been the inital reaction to this Thread

    Go ahead to reset MS Store because it is worth a try troubleshooting step. This will clear cache with your Microsoft store. After performing the steps let us know if you can install game or other games.

    By the way, can you share to us what other troubleshooting steps you have done in your end so that we may skip those if ever those are recommended in resolving the issue.

    Critical Issue With Xbox App!!!

    after cancellation of Update caused partial uninstall of said game -- Ive first tried to make it install Darktide into a different folder -- 0 effect, same error, then to manually delete the remainder files to make "fresh install" -- files prove resistant to even trying to use my limited knowledge of system commands to brute-force file deletion, then went around Web to see if I can find any usable tips -- found 0 helpful things. Now after seeing other thread about same error code 0x87e00031 having a sole reply referring to WRONG error-code solution, decided to simply make a fresh Thread in hopes of it being seen. Re-Sign-In didnt help and Im unsure if "reset MS STORE" will -- I manually downloaded Xbox App from site for initial installation of it. Also -- the trouble with trying to "repair" game files would be the lack of said option for me currently, as game is stuck between "Installed" and "Not Installed" states.

    It appears that you are getting an error code when trying to install the update of the game even after renewal of your Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Let us help you get to the bottom of this.

    If we may ask, what troubleshooting steps have you done so far to help resolve the issue?

    Here are the troubleshooting steps that we can perform:

    1. Try signing out your account from Xbox app and Microsoft store and try signing in back your Microsoft account then try updating the game again.

    2. If the issue persists, reset Microsoft store. Follow the steps below:

    Reset Microsoft Store

    • Press Windows key + R and type wsreset.exe then hit enter.
    • An empty Command prompt will pop open. Let it be for a few seconds and the command line will close automatically (after it has cleared the cache behind the background) and Microsoft Store will be launched in its place.
    3. Repair the game

    • Open the Xbox app for Windows.
    • In My Library, select the game title.
    • Select the More options (…) button and choose Manage.
    • Select Files and then Verify and repair.

    It seems that the issue is happening to Darktide game and it is good thing to know that you were able to download other games.

    We are going to perform some other steps to help resolve the issue.

    1. If you are using third-party antivirus, try disabling it for a while.

    2. Update your display adapter driver.

    For the best game performance, make sure your system’s video card drivers (or display adapter drivers) are up to date. Drivers are available on the support website for your computer manufacturer, or if your computer system is custom built, on the video card manufacturer’s support website. Updating video card drivers can resolve game crashes, improve frame rates, and improve overall game performance.

    3. Uninstall and Reinstall Darktide game.

    If you're having trouble getting a game to play, uninstalling and then reinstalling the game might help. Occasionally, game files may get corrupted or altered, especially if you've had a malware problem or are running a game modification on your device.
