Criminalization of Violent Games in Brazil

This is a topic I honestly never thought I'd see here but I think it's really interesting.

I can see how people say violent games can create more violent individuals but ultimately it's your choice not the game's to act on the impulse and not think rationally. I agree games were created for the purpose of fun and entertaining but I acknowledge
some people take then way too far as the experiences I've had irl and on xbox would suggest. But do I think that it's the game's fault, no. It all comes down to the persons judgment and learning to take a break and find healthy outlets for the frustrations
and anger.

I follow a path similar to yours! There are really people with crazy ideas and forget the definite fact that the problem is the person itself, not a game that orders and you doctrine to do such thing.

To me games are a way to experience things that we otherwise wouldnt. Here in the USA they try to blame games a few times for things but they havent been able to ban any yet. I dont believe that games are the problem.

I would like to hear from you! A discussion that is happening in Brazil! Recently we had a federal deputy who created a bill criminalizing violent games! Because unfortunately we had a misfortune of a case in Sao Paulo known the "Massacre of Suzano". where
gunmen Guilherme Taucci Monteiro and Luiz Henrique de Castro, both former students, killed five students and two female employees of a school. After the massacre, one of the gunmen killed his colleague and then committed suicide. A sad case! What I would like
to know about you is how you see this kind of case in your countries. Well, unfortunately the Brazilian government, I believe! You deal very badly with this situation and there is always a superficial discussion!

I believe violent games do not influence that type of action! The games are for fun, making new friends, making our days or moments sad and boring in moments of joy, achievements and having moments together with your friends to have fun! I see a bill of
this kind very damaging to the serious development of the gaming industry in Brazil!

There has historically always been blame for these types of events on media. Be it in the US the blame placed on books (Nothing like a good old fashioned book burning), music (be it heavy metal, rap, contemporary jazz) or movies, and video games now. I
think the issue stems from people want to feel the ability to control media as a way to control behavior. If _____ was able to be stopped, people will not do things gives people a sense of control over things they find senseless. If it isn't video games
and the event happens, people will look to another form of outside influence to try and control so they can feel a sense of having control over something that they normally can't.

Despite several studies and research showing that there are no relationships between games and violent behavior, Brazil continues to seek ways to trivialize digital entertainment. As if we did not have more important things to solve here ...
