Credit Card Required for "FREE" Games with Gold Downloads

I don't know when this changed, and I really don't care, but change it back because I deliberately use prepaid cards to add money to my Microsoft account because I don't trust you guys to not get hacked like PSN did.

Forcing people to register a credit card is an underhanded move and when more people pick up on this change, you'll start receiving a whole lot of bad press as a result. Of course, I have a credit card too, but there's plenty of people who do not. Once again,
trying to force "trust" in this area is a bad idea.

I know these forums are half dead at the best of times, but I'd take a serious look at this "policy" before it ends up causing a certain amount of unnecessary discontent amongst your customers.

It is mandatory to use only credit card to download the package live gold that the options of free games that currently do not have any credit card available for it, I'm waiting for a response appropriate.

Xbox console cannot find TC's Rainbow Six Vegas

Xbox console cannot find TC's Rainbow Six Vegas, isn't it free for Gold Live member? I've hours via console to search games...etc with IE browser on the console...it still cannot find it. However, with PC web I do see it, but Microsoft required to give them
credit card even it's free for Gold Live member. I don't trust Microsoft store my credit card info on their server. What the hell they're doing? why required credit card for demo games and free games for Gold Live member? Is anyone of you able to download
the TC's Rainbow Six Vegas via console search/browse...etc?

Just do what I did.

Open a paypal account, and attach it to your account, leave the PayPal account empty.

Then if you want, you can add money to your PayPal to buy Xbox items, or you could buy a Xbox Prepaid card, either way.

They just want to use it for verification purposes.

I'm really not keen on having a second Paypal account just for verification purposes. It seems like a completely unnecessary ballache imo.

As for needing to verify whatever; if I buy/download Xbox One things on my Xbox One, no verification is needed. If I buy/download Xbox 360 things on my Xbox 360, no verification is needed. However, if I'm to download ANYTHING from either the Xbox Store or
Xbox 360 things on my Xbox One, then, for some reason, I need "verification".

Why? What's the point?

They already know it's my account. They already know all of my relevant details (except my Credit Card information). They know everything they NEED to know, and that was/is perfectly sufficient in the past or via other methods, yet there's this claim that
they need a verifiable credit card.

The truth is they don't need that information, they just want it and "oh so coincidentally" I'll start receiving yet more spam in my official e-mail account, or they're looking to force banking details out of their customers for some research or something.

Any way you look at it, it stinks, and functionality/convenience has to suffer. They already require you to have an actual verification code sent to your e-mail when trying to make a purchase from the xbox.com store, so this extra hurdle does nothing to
help the consumer.

If they want consumer trust, they shouldn't be forcing this kind of thing on those people.

First of all, we should not have to provide payment information to download a free game. If I decided to go to the store to buy an Xbox Live Gold subscription, then that is my choice not to provide microsoft my credit card info. Second, if getting Gold
gives you access to free games then providing credit card info should not be a requirement if the only requirement is to have Gold. Third, many people have gotten rid of the 360 in favor of the One, so downloading the free games is not an option for most
people. If microsoft wants to keep people, then give them the ease of access. We should not have to go through the same [tag:justdealwithit] mess or the "there's an offline machine, It,s called the 360" crap. This got microsoft in trouble in the first place
and it caused people to go to Sony. If the credit card restriction is removed then microsoft will save themselves a huge legal debaucle if and when their system is compromised and credit card info is stolen.

I am xbox live gold subscriber to a few months and one of the main reasons to subscribe to this service was the free games.

Well now that went backward compatibility microsoft says any gold subscriber can download the Xbox one games and the Xbox 360 for free, but then why you ask for a credit card? Hey games are not free?

This is a tremendous *** if I knew it would not sign the live.

I want to download the Live games without the credit card crap.

Can you please do something about it.

If you do not resolve my problem I will be required to sign for this illusory service. What a disappointment.
