Creators program and physical releases

Sounds good. I too found a service that I could print physical copies (with genuine game disks) and ship them to stores as well.

I was searching for official announcement about this, and it seems that Microsoft is working on this, but this is just a pilot program.

“ we’ve even enabled retail disc publishing for developers in ID@Xbox, Xbox’s digital self-publishing program. This retail program is still in the pilot phase with a limited number of partners, but developers can make physical versions of their games with only a low “minimum order quantity” of physical units from Xbox.”

Let’s see if Microsoft releases this feature for indie developers soon, that’s going to facilitate the process :blush:.

CD and DVD is exactly what I meant with genuine disc. That there'll be an actual CD or DVD ROM in the package to install the game from.

And I would indeed like to negotiate with Microsoft (or Xbox Game Studios) about permission/license to use a certain IP of theirs, please.

With that said, do you appear to have contact information of someone at Microsoft or Xbox to negotiate about the permission or license?

if you're just doing a PC game there's no such thing as a "genuine game disc" as PC games do not have coffee protection that takes specialized machines to produce

They're just CD/DVD/BD

you would have to negotiate for the rights to use Microsoft IP, and unless you are an established developer with a track record it's unlikely to happen.
