Creating Xbox Live Account/Signing Into Xbox Live Account

So, I just downloaded fortnite and even though I have an adult Microsoft account linked to my adult Xbox one account, it won't sign into Live. Before you say the Xbox Live account is separate, I followed intructions from multiple websites, including Microsoft.com
and my xbox screen, it still didn't work. Will someone please tell me how the freak to get an Xbox live account without paying for Xbox Live Gold?!?!

Can you sign in Xbox live with a different E-mail account?

So, I have already an Xbox Live user and my E-mail account I used to sign in Xbox Live is about to close. Can I use a different E-mail account to sign in Live with the same user?

It's important, because I have all my achievements/ plus friends in this user and I cannot try it out, because I have not created another E-mail account, yet.

How to Change your Xbox LIVE account information

Overview

It is possible to change information associated with your Xbox LIVE account like your name, address, phone number or email address.

Note: You cannot change the country that is associated with your Xbox LIVE account. If you have moved to another country and you would like to access Xbox LIVE from there, you have to create a new Xbox LIVE account in your new location.

How to Change your name, address, phone number or email on Xbox.com

1) Go to My Account and Sign In with your Microsoft Account. (This is the email and password that is associated with your Xbox LIVE account).

2) Make the changes you want to your billings account information and then click Save.

How to Change your name, address, phone number or email on your console.

1) Sign in using your Xbox LIVE gamertag.

2) Proceed to Settings, and then select Account.

3) Select Your Information, and then go to Billing Information.

4) Sign In with your Microsoft account password.

5) Change your billing account information and then click Done.

In case you want to change the billing name on your Xbox LIVE account, go to Xbox.com

Once you create an account with an email address, it is a Live account. However, gold is required for online multiplayer and some games, like Fortnite, are online only games and required a gold subscription.

So it looks like you already at least have an Xbox Live Silver account if you were able to sign-in and post on the forums. Once you make an Xbox Live account through Xbox.com by signing in with a Microsoft Account, you're automatically given an Xbox Live
Silver account. If you wish to create a new Xbox Live account, you can do so by hitting up our

on xbox 360, its possible to just create an xbox profile that is not in turn a "Microsoft Account" so that way your children can play offline and have separate game saves, but to connect to xbox live and play online (multiplayer & and purchasing content)
the xbox profile must sign up for Xbox Live.

If a user signs up for Xbox Live, a Microsoft account is required (emails are required for this). If the user is under the age of 18, then an additional Microsoft account must be created to monitor the child account. Xbox one has changed the way profiles
are created, if you try to create an account it will automatically try and setup a Microsoft account.
