Creating profiles offline?

I'm a bit of a gaming obsessive I have every iteration of XBox and Playstation and still play my favourite games from every generation. I was disturbed then to find out recently that it is impossible to create a profile on XBox One without being connected
to XBox Live. I was recently in an area with no broadband and for some reason, I was being booted out of my regular profile as soon as I signed in. I thought I'd greate a temporary profile to use until I could get home and sort it out but just got the message
that I need to be online to create a profile.

So now I'm thinking my current XB1 games collection could easily be redundant if I ever have a similar problem years down the line when Microsoft no longer supports XBox One, which leads me to think it may be best to buy the latest current games for PS,
which would be a shame because my XB1-X knocks the socks off my PS4.

The whole thing seems madness given that it's perfectly possible to play games whilst disconnected from the internet in a profile that already exists.

Am I missing a trick? Is there a way to create a new profile off-line, or are there any plans to allow that in an update? Any information gratefully received.

I have added my other half but that was porting it across from her Offline profile on my Gold Xbox live account

I know what you mean though, when I was trying to add her my username was ghosted and it became a 1 at the end. No idea how you actually add a user and then add the name sorry

Has anyone created additional profiles on their Ones for family members etc (not new accounts)?

I think I have but it had just appended my gamer tag with a "1", I can't see how to rename? On my 360 I had multiple profiles for various 'situations' and each was named accordingly. Any one else?
