Creating an Xbox account for my son

Hi All,

I have an xbox account which I can manage my profile. My son is listed as a friend under my profile, but I cannot make any purchase/changes to his profile without him having an xbox login.

I created an account but the system created a profile for him which is useless. How can I link his real profile to this xbox account?

Seems a catch 22. I can create the profile but then not the account or I create the account and it cannot be linked to the xbox on which I have an account.

Any suggestions or should I just carry on banging my head against the wall?

Hi Robiton,

If you create a new Microsoft Account, then associate the Xbox Live account with this, you can set it up for your son like that. I haven't signed into my Microsoft Account for months at a time - it should not expire or cause issues.

When registering I believe you can set this account as a child of your parent account, meaning you have control over it also.

I want to create an xbox live account for my son, but due to his age, he does not have an email account of his own. I have a live.com email address, but it already has an xbox live account associated with it.

Is it possible to add an email alias to my account and use it to create an xbox live account? If not, is there other ways that would not require me to create a full email account for him, with would require him to check it all the time? (I recall that live.com
has to be logged into every 30 days or they disable it.)

Xbox One: Press Menu (start) > Settings > Scroll to the right until you see familiy > Select "Add to Family" > hover over your sons Gamertag (profile) > Select Choose this person > I think after that he may have to enter his password to authorize you to
have control of his account. (I can't remember for sure)

Xbox 360: I don't remember and currently have no internet on my 360 to find out. If its just parental controls your after Go to Settings > Family > Content Controls > Select "on" and edit from their. Additionally while signed into his profile you can change
his privacy settings on his account to do things such as choose his ability to talk to strangers (if he can talk to strangers he will very likely her some awful language) you can edit his privacy settings by signing into his account and going to Settings >
Account and you should be able to find it from there (no internet on my 360 so I can't check or explain any further)
