    U can set up ur sons account on the family option in settings and use a mobile number instead of email k mate

    Yeah, just give him a microsoft email account. It's free and he doesn't even have to use it for emails. It just means you can then make him a part of your 'family' online. You can see what and when he plays, block purchases, teach responsibility, all that
    good stuff.
