Created child account but didn't bring in old stats

Hello

I'm sure this has been asked before but I've been unable to find the answers here so apologies if this is a regular issue. I found how to create a child account for my son, connected to mine, but somewhere along the way it's created a new account for him.
I thought I was following instructions for turning an existing Xbox 360 login to a live account (retaining his player information etc).

Is there a way to retrospectively merge his old data with his new Live login?

If your account was created as a child account, it will need to be promoted to an adult account even if you are old enough.

 

Advice on creating sub-account for child

Don't know - found this out with our sons account when trying to add it to xb1 ( I have a thread on this which will be near this one now) and awaiting call back from xblive to see if it can be resolved.

Happened when we had to do something to get his account online for gold and had to use another email address to set up an account to migrate or something or other. I know my hubby was on the phone with them for well over an hour that time to get it sorted - he is cursing about it as he can't believe how complex their systems are - and he used to work for MS and is now a freelance consultant architect/developer/admin for blue chips so is very experienced with computer systems

 

Sorry but no,you can't merge profiles or move save data from one profile to another.

 

Does the old profile still exist on your console? To check, go to the social pane and pick 'Sign In or Out'. Check if the profile is there.

If it is then sign in. To 'promote' the account to Live press the guide button on the controller and pick the 'Join Live' option. Following the instructions and this will make the account a Live account, bringing across any of the saves and achievements
with it.

Bear in mind that if the account name already exists on Live then you'll need to pick a new one, but the first change will be free provided it is used within 90 days.

As long as you've entered the correct age details then a child account will have been created.

Sorry if I'm just repeating what you've already done but the above instructions I know work.

If you've put Gold on the other account then give support a ring and they may be able to refund you any remaining time to apply to the new account.

 

thanks very much, i'm trying to do this now, but I can't as the email address I setup for him is associated with the useless profile i set up i can't - so i'm trying to delete that one.. this all seems really unintuitive but perhaps that's because I'm a
mac person!

 

ok this is insane.

I followed the steps above after setting up a new email address for him, which I had to do as I couldn't deleted the old profile.

When I set up the email address (Microsoft profile, hotmail) I signed in online as an adult to give him permission.

Following the steps above I got to the end then it said I needed to go online and set it up because he needed my permission.. i can't win!

Now i have two useless email address and live accounts I don't want.
