Crazy Grinding Noise Made by Xbox One

Hello, and thank you for reading!

Basically, the problem is my Xbox One (its not an X nor an S) has randomly started making this loud grinding noise. I’ve looked up my issue online and most people have grindy and screechy, but mine is all grindy. I suspect it has something to do with the
fan as when I turn it off the grinding noise gets slower and slower.

(I held my phone close to the console so that might be why its so loud. However, it would still be incredibly loud even if I had recorded it from the other side of my room, where the Xbox is.

the Xbox is fairly new. I bought in 2016 and I’ve tried my best to keep it safe and in good condition but unfortunately I dont think that happened.

Hi ali,

That sounds like the fan may have become loose and is hitting the wall its closest to while it's spinning. Or a small piece broke off and is stuck in there causing the sound while the fan spins. Unfortunately there is no practical solutions with hardware
issues and the console will need to be sent in for repair.

I think it has enough space. I've got my 360 right beside it but there's enough space on the sides and top for it to breathe.

That does not sound right.

Does your console have enough ventilation space around it.

That didn't sound normal. If it works and it doesn't give you any issues I'd just keep playing unless the sound really bothers or worries you. If it does send it in fo4 a repair. It sounds like the fan is on the fritz.
