" Crafting " in video games

I get really ocd and nerdy when it comes to crafting. I spent more time with alchemy/smithing/enchanting in Skyrim than just about anything else. I made so many super-weapons. To me it was almost a game within a game.

 

I wanted to comment on this topic, even though it is old. I have played a lot of video games and I am really over the whole crafting thing. I am glad to play a game that can be played without crafting, even if it does have crafting, but I am just so tired
of crafting in games. I am now at the point I just totally ignore it, unless it is something simple, like Alchemy was in Oblivion or maybe the crafting in ESO (it seems very simple) something along that nature.

Anyway, just give me good quest rewards and let it go. Fallout 4 has a ton of crafting, but it is not necessary, I totally refuse. I do enjoy the game though. Just commenting because if I really must craft in a game then I will probably not buy or play that
game. As long as it is optional, then that is fine.

I just wonder sometimes, aren't other people tired of this, too? Crafting has been kind of a "thing" for a long time now, but no one has really made it seem fun, it always seems like busy work.

 

I love it and never get tired of it.

 

Crafting in the Division is woeful at best.

 

Love it, adds an element of progress and interest seeking items.

 

They should at least make it easy and fast for you to craft especially for beginner players.

I've played Minecraft since a month after it came out on Xbox 360. It's enjoyable and you make too many friends and meet too many peps when playing the game.

Out of all the games I've played on Xbox, only a few of them require crafting/levelling which kind of annoyed me. But it can be viewed as "an art" too. Subway sandwiches they call their staff "sandwich artists". One of my friends calls her YouTube channel
by her name and craft. I've even considered changing my YouTube channel name to something "Craft" but for now I'll stick with the name I've already made for it. All games have at least some degree of "art".

Crafting in Oblivion is fun and hilarious, it's really part of the game and makes sense to be there. It's just not for all games, crafting weapons in bethesda games is usually a blast were as crafting things in a game like the division is just a time waster.

^ Yep hate the crafting in Division, but generally I find it adds to a decent RPG.

 

Like Genchy, I love searching for and finding the materials.

 

Getting crafting right and there after the economy is a very very hard task IMO, destiny and the division (to a lesser extent) IMO are examples of developers not having the experience and getting it wrong, the elder scrolls is an example of them getting
it right.

Done right its a pleasure, done wrong is boring as hell.

 

If it's not 7+ gp/xp and a skill you only do during double xp weekends, I don't mind it at all.

Nah, but in all seriousness, I really don't care if a game has crafting, especially if I can play at least most of the game without really spending much time on it. I can't really think of a game where crafting would've been something I'd list as a negative
thing. Perhaps if there's lots of RNG required to craft the good stuff I wouldn't like it but so far I haven't run into that issue.
