I liked the whole crafting thing in Dragon Age: Inquisition. The best gear in the game came from crafting weapons/armor. I had party members who were completely fire resistant due to the gear I had. " Crafting " in video games :)

the best gear should always come from crafting. I like in Withcher 3 where you need ingredients to create oils and potions but can still heal by eating food etc.

Makes it worth pickin all those flowers!!

  3. I'm the opposite. A game that offers me crafting options is far more likely to hold my attention for long stretches and encourage me to play again. Fallout, Elder Scrolls, and Dragon Age games are all examples of ones I love for that reason. I think the
reason why they work for me is because I don't normally have to go out of my way to find materials, since picking them up while adventuring is easy, and you can hoard them in your home base.

The reason I love crafting is because it creates a sense of ownership as far as my progress goes. The game is not saying: "okay, here's BFG number 6 to start this new level...it should give you the firepower you need to survive". Instead, I'm CHOOSING
which buffs and upgrades I might need. In a game where survival is important, choosing a direction to take in terms of weapon upgrades or armor upgrades, is incredibly empowering.

That's why I think this model works much better for my tastes than, say, Destiny, where in the early game you were forced to craft in order to upgrade, but had to go back and re-do the same areas SO MANY TIMES that it became mind numbing and turned me off
the game entirely. But Destiny's problems came as a result of limited content more than anything. That's why it became repetitive. Just imagine trying to play Skyrim all within a single Hold...it would get pretty tedious as far as crafting goes.

    Hello "Azrael008uk" " Crafting " in video games :)

    ..........

    (1) I absolutely despise RPG games that always make the enemies the same level as the player. It defeats the entire purpose of leveling up and getting better equipment.

    (2) I absolutely despise crafting in games because it is such a pain in the rear to collect the materials.

But in an rpg it really isn't/shouldn't be a pain, it's a part of exploration, just collect as you go. Crafting can also feel very rewarding, when you suddenly come across a certain item which will complete a very powerful weapon, it gives you that sense
    of achievement.

I was reading about the crafting system in Fallout 4 earlier (if I can find the article I'll post it), it sounds absolutely awesome. The announcement of the crafting in F4 has made me twice as excited about playing it.

Hello "Goatsnatcher" " Crafting " in video games :)

    ..........

I would rather loot or buy my weapons and gear than build them. I don't have the patience to wait until I collect all of the required resources to get to use my new weapons and gear.

Please understand that " often times " I absolutely don't care about the special abilities that a new weapon or gear gives me as I just want to kill things faster or be a little bit more durable (by wearing better gear).

I roll my eyes backwards and say in my head " really? really? really? " as I proceed to collect the crafting materials because I like the weapon and / or gear that I will get in the end. Instead of enjoying myself while collecting the crafting materials,
I am aggrevated that I am doing this in the first place (collecting crafting materials).

A perfect example of this is Fallou 3. I only use weapons that I can loot or buy as I absolutely refuse to waste my time creating any of the custom weapons that are only available in via crafting. Crafting ruins the immersion factor for me and makes me
want to stop play; not keep on playing.

I don't mind having to find materials to upgrade a weapon or gear (like in Destiny) because the weapon or gear is already made and upgrading it requires a bit more of work. The point that I am trying to make is the the weapon is already made.

Hello "Goatsnatcher" " Crafting " in video games :)

    ..........

I will get rid of Fallout 4 immediately if I find out that the only way to be very effective in combat is if you use crafted weapons and gear!

Fallout 3 allowed me (the player) to still be very effective in combat without using any crafted weapons and gear; I hope that Fallout 4 keeps this fine balance going on.

With that being said, I can't wait for this game " Crafting " in video games :)

Lei. I doubt you'll have any issue in Fallout 4. Told Howard did say the crafting is optional, and if for some reason the standard weapons felt underpowered, there is alway's the difficulty setting.

    Think you'll be fine.

Hello "Goatsnatcher" " Crafting " in video games :)

    ..........

When it comes to games like Obivion and Fallout 3, I've always set the combat difficulty level to the easiest setting as my goal is to have fun and focus on the story.

Hence the reason that despite my high respect and praise of Diablo 3 Ultimate Evil Edition, I absolutely refuse to play it. Clearly, Blizzard wanted the enemies to be a constant threat to you (the player) in Diablo 3 Ultimate Evil Edition.

However, I prefer the way that Diablo 3 handled things (which allowed my level 60 paragon level 71 sorceress to go back all the way to the Normal setting where the enemies are capped off at level 30) so I can plow through them like I'm Godzilla LOL " Crafting " in video games :)

What has that got to do with "Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition"?

The game comes with a "difficulty setting" so you can tailor your experience to suit your own personal taste.

If you don't like your games to challenge you or provide a sense of actual achievement you can simply drop the difficulty to as low as "Beginner" if you need to.

As far as objecting to games that require you to craft all I can say is keep away from "The Elder Scrolls Online".

    Your head will explode.

    Hello "Azrael008uk" " Crafting " in video games :)

    ..........

    (1) There is a big difference between fighting enemies that are 30 levels below your character as Diablo 3 vanilla caps enemies off at level 30 in Normal.

Diablo 3 Ultimate Evil Edition makes you fight equally leveled enemies who recieve a penalty to their stats because the game is set to the easiest setting.

    (2) I just want to find or buy weapons / armor / etc... and use them. I am really glad that you and a lot of other people enjoy finding every single piece of an item before you can make it " Crafting " in video games :)

As far as the Diablo 3 reference is concerned I only need two words to clarify this confusion... Hellfire Ring

You don't have to craft in elder scrolls online. Yes it's part of the game but it isn't necessary. I play all the time my character is level 18 and other than the tutorial quest I haven't crafted a single item
