Crackly static noise coming from Xbox

Since I received my Xbox one a few days ago, I have noticed a faint crackly static noise coming from the Xbox itself when in use. Just want to know what it is that's causing it and whether or not it could cause damage to the Xbox and break it. The actual
Xbox functions fine.

Crackly Audio from Xbox One TV

hi all, has anyone encountered crackly or static-y audio when watching television thru the xbox one? I didn't have the issue at all when plugged directly to my TV but once it's routed thru the Xbox One it comes out sounding really bad at times.

Help?!

 

Xbox one controller static noise

Hello.. Just yesterday for some weird reason I put my Xbox one controller next to my ear, and to my surprise you can hear some static noise coming from the middle of the Xbox logo. Is this normal for this controller to sound this way? I also tested my
other brand new controller that was in the box, and it also did the same noise.

BTW you can only hear it when the controller is on

 

Sorry to hear it. A crackling noise is definitely not a good sign. I would recommend restoring the console to factory settings to remove your info and then return it to the store for an exchange.

 

I bought my Xbox through amazon so I am not sure I will be able to return it unless there is an actual defect with its functionality.

 

That might pose a problem. Do you know if the console was brand new or used? If it was brand new the seller should be able to take a return or you could send it in for a warranty repair.

If it was used then that poses a whole different kettle of fish as you would not be able to take advantage of a warranty (they do not transfer). Your only option there would be to return it to the seller.

 

It was new and just recently when playing it made a quite loud clicking noise once when I was playing a game. I am very sure it didn't come from the game.

 

Then I would definitely see about returning it or, if they will not accept it back, set up a repair of the console. Better safe than sorry.

clicks and crackles are signs of Hard Drive failure, I would do as Onyx62is says and take anything important off it and try return it ASAP, my console does make a very faint crackle because thats the sound a SATA drive makes when its reading/writing data
but what you're describing is pretty alarming.

 

I am also having this issue on the new 1tb console that came out 2 weeks ago. I wonder if this is a bug because my Day One console does not have this issue.

 

I had it replaced by amazon and the new one doesn't make vertually any noise. not sure what the issue was with the other one though

 

Oh ok, my crackling/popping sound only happens when I play a game or browse the home screen when I move from box to box. My Day One edition never had this problem. I wonder if it's the external hard drive I have the games on. It's USB 3.0 though and 2
TB. Only using 1tb.

I really think my issue has to be software related.

 

And it doesn't always happen, if I reboot the system it goes away for awhile but eventually comes back.

I am using an AV receiver with all HDMI inputs no optical.
