Country is locked to US when I try to change gamertag

Hello!

Recently I tried to change my Xbox gamertag but when I try to, the country is locked to the United States, and it won't let me change it. I've looked all over the forums and tried everything that came up, and nothing works. My country and timezone in settings is set to where i live, and i recently bought Game Pass without any issues. I'm clueless on how to fix it, so any advice helps

You should be able to change your gamertag from any country. If you're trying to change it from the website and it's locking you to the US, change the region in the bottom left corner of the site.

If your gamertag is set to the US then that would be the issue. A lot of games are IP locked now which means that your gamertag must be set to the same country you live in. If it isn't already you should try migrating your account to your country.

Gold memberships are region locked and can only be used for the country that they were intended. Also, if your gamertag is set for a different country then you could run into issues purchasing and downloading items.

Sounds like you've already changed your region to the US. If this is the case you would need to purchase a US Gold Membership as all Gold Memberships are region locked and can only be used if the gamertag is within that country.
