Countdown to The Golf Club...

Well that does seem small but this is the age of compression so you can't always judge based on size vs quality. I hope they are to have a lot of support and updates since this seems like the it's in the same tier as Project Spark and Screamride. The price
has me a little put off so I'm now in the air if it does clock in around $40.

 

Diablo III out but no golf, as of 6:00am UK time.

 

Pass on the golf, so a video someone put out and people are already getting -14 or some insane low score. In other words, I have no chance getting close to winning a tournament. Again, pass and I'll wait to spend my money on NHL 15.

 

he easy courses are well.. easy... and if you make your own course... well... you can adjust the terrain to slope towards the hole... making a hole in one every shot...

 

After seeing some reviews and looking at gameplay on twitch...it is definitely NOT worth $35...so disappointed. I was really looking forward to getting this. Even Game Informer today put out the statement, "get it on any platform other than Xbox One" due
to muddy visuals and bugs. And I'd have to agree, it looks like a game form the early Xbox 360 days in terms of jerkiness and lack of features. If it were around $15-20, I'd probably get it still.

 

Its $45 AUD is it worth the price? I play real golf but haven't played a golf computer game since the Megadrive Days.

 

Im enjoying it. Most of the -14 or whatever scores are coming on insanely easy courses. No wind, flat greens etc. The harder courses can get really tough. Is it perfect? No.... Am I glad I picked it up? Yes

If you enjoy golf games you most likely will enjoy yourself. Just remember its a simulation game. No hats and clubs to get you better stats.

 

I picked this up yesterday. It has some faults, mainly tree pop ups when you watch an over view of the course which should not be happening.

I noticed yesterday that loading times were terrible when going from menu to menu and this has been reflected in some average ratings on some sites BUT, I fired it up today and it's now super quick. You can be in a game in seconds from initial load up. No
more annoying delays moving through menus.

If you like golf games I highly recommend The Golf Club. It takes time to learn, but it has a really good feel to it. The commentary is good too. I'm looking forward to the community built courses too see what insanely creative stuff people come up with.

 

@Zombie I had the same issue with menu switching speed.. went the wrong way and to get the icon usable on the main menu took a good 20 seconds, then I lost network connection.. I am playing it right now and there seems to be NO lag from switching screens
and I have not lost connection yet

 

There were server issues yesterday which improved as the day went on. Played smooth as butter early this morning 1-2 AM PDT. I would expect some issues going forward for a few days as people play in the evening after work until the servers are scaled to
the expected load.

 

hey Jay.. thanks for playing that "Bearded woman" 2 hole course... I fell asleep chasing your putted ball down the hill for a good 10 minutes LOL At least I got the achievements..

Anyways, how do you invite a live person to a round?

 

That was a loooooong hole wasn't it? The Lucky 7 one was fun though a little tedious having to keep choosing the 7 iron and normal or flop and then chipping on the green to make the putt.

From what I have been reading you have to be on the same course and the same hole at the same time then you can hit the menu button and choose to play turn by turn. Still have to chat with Party chat in order to talk. Game is fun which is really what matters.

 

I hear the framerate is pretty bad, but it is insanely fun. I think they could have done with some more dev time if so, especially since its 720p with frame drops (or so I hear). Hoping to get it soon though, I really like the cross-platform course sharing,
wish Trials did that.

 

A game like this should not be warranted by FPS or Reso's.. It is a golf simulator, nothing more.. nothing less. Could it look better.. yeah sure it could... could it be 60 FPS, yeah sure.. but does it need it? no

 

Well, just saw some streams of the PS4 version...looks sharper and plays a hell of alot smoother with little lag or jitter-ness. This is getting ridiculous...when is Microsoft going to start pushing out this great DirectX12 / cloud based computing scenario
so that they can stop looking like the N64 that came to play with the PS2 and Dreamcast. As a Xbox owner for 3 generations, this is getting really irritating. This game should look and play almost completely identical along with most games. It seems so odd
now that we are in the 3rd gen of Xbox's life cycle and you constantly see people having to defend this company's game machine.

Wonder if I should give up on seeing any update or worth while patch come out to justify purchasing this game that I wanted soo bad when it was announced....
