Countdown to New Years a HUGE disappointment!!

Today's deal Resident Evil 4 isn't too horrible for someone who hasn't played it.

 

I've been back on the 360 for about 4-5 weeks after 2 years away, and I've never enjoyed so many sales for the 360.

Since coming back I've bought...

1: Metro 2033 for £2.99

2: Resident Evil for less that £4

3: State of Decay and all DLC for well under £10

4: Spec-Ops: The Line for £2.99

5: Saints Row IV Season Pass for less than £2 (Then found out you can't 100%... Pffft!)

So for me its been like one amazing deal each week.

Regret not getting 'Murdered Soul Detective' for £8.99, but I have a feeling in about a months time I'll be able to get it that price from Amazon UK.

 

I guess it's just the worst time for sales as I've nearly played most of the games on sale for the 360. Though being at the end of its life, I think that's to be expected for someone like me.

Then the Xbox One is still early in it's life, so again I've played a lot of the stuff on sale and the other is just garbage to me. I do have to admit that after saying I wouldn't go near the telltale bundle I thought I may as well as it's likely the only
thing I'll buy this sale.

Why not? Have they removed character uploads or something?

 

Well I tried the demo and it wouldn't create an account but for some reason said I already had one... which I don't.

I messaged Deep Silver or whoever the publisher is, and they responded by saying all the website is messed up and no one can send anything or something.

They may sort it out when Gat Out of Hell arrives.

I was also going to buy the Reloaded edition of SR3, but I imagine that could have the same problem. Played that ages ago and really enjoyed it, but it's no loss if I don't get to 100% complete it or play it again.

 

They just put GT5 on sale for 58% off...but even that game bores me after a few hours.

Herein lies the dilemma...having the XB360, i feel as though i have hit a wall. There are still some awesome games being released and i have yet to play, but to spend money on those or upgrade...an upgrade is inevitable. And weighing up the options from
personal experience, i am leaning towards the PS4, which kinda sucks cause i was a PC player for years before ever playing PS. And when the xbox came out it felt familiar and less "gamey" to me which was a huge sell point. (I feel like im in the Black Sunday
Trilogy) So an upgrade yet again, more hours of research, or just flip a fricken coin lol

Then there is the flashplayer issue on xbox, and why it will never happen. Then it comes down to the publishers selling half baked games to the consumer, like we plebes will eat any old garbage they throw out. I'm sure PS has their share of problems when
it comes this, after reading a few articles recently i am sure of it.

Anywho, thanks guys and gals for your input, i feel better knowing it's not just me that's left feeling a lil bitter this season as for those enjoying the sale, i say toot on son, toot on!

@Brako - I had a similar issue when SR3 was free, my account would not sync with the game, but I could sign-in through the website. It made it impossible to upload your character, though when I emailed them they fixed it within an hour. I was super impressed,
not sure if that's the same issue you have and weird they can't do anything for you now.

There is like the initiation station which was a work around as well, but that wasn't available in my region for SR3 which is why I diverted to deep silver support.

 

They just put Assassin's Creed Liberation HD up for under $7...still meh. Bring on The Witcher 2 for half price, or Skyrim DLC for under $7 or something!! Maybe if i close my eyes and wish really, really hard huh lol

 

Where did you see Liberation on sale?

 

I really want Styx to go on sale. It looks really interesting but not $40 interesting.

All the lego games are discounted on 360 for gold members as of today, too.

 

The countdown deals seem to be generally accepted as the worst deals ever if you look around the internet. At least MS helps me save a lot of money since I haven't bought anythimg. The 360 has a huge game library but it seems like the same games are always
on sale. Oh well, Valve received more money than usual from me

 

Liberation is todays (Dec 29) 360 discount title.

DON'T BUY WITCHER 2, IT'S GOING TO BE THE 2ND GWG FOR JANUARY!!!! (better than half off huh?!)

 

@Brako ~ I just tried retrieving a character on SR4 and I can't connect. I think you're right though, they will have it fixed by the time Gat out of Hell launches, if not before. (Looking forward to that game, and if we're unable to port
a character, it won't be the player-created Boss being kidnapped in Gat out of Hell, which would suck.)

They're still definitely supporting Saints Row: The Third too, even with the screenshot uploads to My Steelport -- I love that game.

SR3 - 4 are fun as hell. In my top 10 easily, squished together in one spot. Not just gameplay-wise - you can tell they're made by gamers for gamers - but just the way every cutscene is put together... it's just fun, funny stuff. The Saints are lovable psycho-nonSaintsociopathic

@EV1LD3ADP1NH3AD ~ Liberation HD was originally a portable title so it's bigger than your average Arcade game. Good value at less than $10. As Th3 Tater says Witcher 2 will be free in the second half of January.

I think it was maybe two months ago when Gold subscribers had the Bethesda sale which included all of the Skyrim DLC. So even though it and its added content are unlikely to appear in this Countdown Sale... they will be in another sale in the coming months.

OP, it's difficult for us to figure out what games you like, because you've hidden your gaming history.

I haven't really payed much attention to the sale this year as my backlog is pretty huge at the moment. I did pick up Tales from the Borderlands Season Pass & Episode 1 at 50% off, so that was pretty swell.

 

For me (an old-school gamer), this sale is/was a huge disappointment. It seems MS believes everyone wants updated-graphics games, but original arcade games are the best. Get with the program, MS. Put these actual classics up for sale:

Double Dragon (again, the original. Not that abortion you call Double Dragon Neon)

TMNT Arcade game (already have it, but i'm sure others would like to get it)

TMNT 2 Turtles In Time (the arcade game)

And would love to see Outrun, the arcade game.
