Could Xbox One boot to the TV app in full screen?

The latest update came and went and still no option to boot to TV full-screen. Too bad, i really liked my Xbox hooked up to my cable, but my family has to come first. I'll watch for this in future updates to see if i can hook it back up again.

Hope this is still an option. Had to disconnect the my console from cable because the family became too frustrated. If we could auto-boot to TV on startup, i could convince them to try it one more time.

I'm happy to see I'm not the only one experiencing this. I like how reidjim coined the term "wife acceptance factor" - that's perfect!

The option to auto boot full screen TV would certainly buy the Xbox One alot more acceptance in my family.

This drives my SO nuts that every-time she wants to watch tv she has to navigate to make it full screen...

Anxiously awaiting an update for this. I would hate to have to put on a different input, the main reason I purchased this over a ps4 was because of the hdmi pass through Could Xbox One boot to the TV app in full screen? :(

Today's news of a new lower-priced Xbox One without Kinect makes this a more critical feature to have. Having to go find the controller to watch TV instead of using voice commands is even worse.

Same here - at first, my wife tried the voice commands, but got frustrated and gave up. Then she would turn on the controller, wait for it to boot up, switch to full screen TV, then turn the controller off. She did that for a couple days before "voting"
that we disconnect the cable. Her vote won.

I originally requested that we have boot to full screen TV or to allow HDMI pass-through while the Xbox is off/standby. I have changed my view on this.

Xbox takes too long to boot up when you just want to watch TV, so booting to full screen TV is no longer an option for me.

HDMI pass-through while Xbox is off is nice, but I actually want the Xbox on all the time now. I love having the "Xbox pause" command available to me at anytime.

In order of importance, I would like to see:

    1. Discrete IR command to launch the TV app.

    2. HDMI pass-through while box is off.

Xbox team, I love you, but you need a lesson on home automation. Contact me if you need any tips. I write home automation software for a living.

Could Xbox One boot to the TV app in full screen?

Agreed. This is a small change that would make a big difference. It's all about reducing friction, right.?

June update announcement made and looks like this option did not make the cut again. Too bad, i was so looking forward to re-connecting my cable to my console.

Otherwise great updates - thanks MS.

It's been a while since launch now. I'm surprised such a simple set of minor and obvious features that were considered for implementation a half of a year ago still escape the latest preview.

  11. Still on our radar guys. I understand why you want it and why it seems silly that we don't have it yet.

My other half loves the OneGuide and the fact that she can quickly and easily get to things such as Netflix. She also loves the fact that she can press the switch on the front of the Xbox and everything connected starts BUT she absolutely hates having to
find the xbox controller (She wont do voice commands), press the button, wait for it to connect, navigate to the TV tile and then finally launch TV.

I can't really blame her, it is needed.

I'm pretty disappointed this hasn't been implemented yet! I too will be disconnecting my systems from the xbox until you guys can allow boot to TV... Why wouldn't you have this already??

I have to admit, this has been bothering me big time since day one. I cannot believe that MS hasn't implemented this already. And now with the July update, it's STILL NOT HAPPENING.

I have to do a song and a dance to watch tv with my xbox one. I've considered just unhooking it from my DVR altogether. What a hassle for something so freakin simple
