could someone tell me what I'm doing wrong about buying dlc for backwards 360 games?

So now being able to play red dead redemption on xbox one I decided to buy some DLC for it. When in doing so I learned that I'm blocked from buying it with the message saying I cannot buy it with money in my account.Just to be clear let me say that again. Money,,
in my,,,xbox account. After coming to the conclusion that in no way would it make any kind of sense to someone to not allow players to buy the backwards games and their DLC with a account invented to do that very thing. I Have to ask what I'm doing wrong. Surely
xbox isn't trying to force players to enter a credit card number to buy backwards 360 games and thier DLC. Its not like there is a renewal for anything connected to it thus needing a credit card. I mean the purpose of having backward games and having DLC
for them is for me to buy it. So most would agree blocking me from buying it is the exact opposite of selling it to me. Am I overlooking something? Is there a actual honest reason its this way?

The 360 store is set up differently from the store on the One/xbox.com. It is only possible to purchase 360 content using currency from your account via a 360 console. The One/xbox.com does not recognize your Microsoft account balance as a valid payment
option for 360 content. I've never seen an actual reason why except that that system has just never been updated to work with the currency system.

 

so the 360 games that are backward and can be played on xbox one are usless unless your on a 360 console because you cant buy them? lol,, WTF, if I still had a 360 console then I wouldnt need to play them on the xbox one . Doesn't it defeat the purpose
of having backwards games if we cant buy them to play them unless we have a credit card or are willing to have my credit card floating around on a gaming system. Oh that pesky little hiccup of players actually needing to buy the backwards games in order to
play them and use them. Who would have remembered they needed that.

 

No.You can buy the dlc but you can't use account credit to buy them unless you use a 360 to buy them.

It's perfectly safe having your credit/debit card linked to your account.

Mines been linked to mine for over 13 years & I've never had an issue.

You only need to buy a bc game if you don't already own it.

 

Credit? its my actual money in a account setup to do this very thing. That not credit, that's my real money that in this account instead of in my pocket. Granted, most of my security concerns are on my end of home secrurity not so much as Microsoft. Allthough
there are plenty of stories about charges even after the auto renewal is turned off that are non refundable. We all can agree that money in the Microsoft account is for everything Microsoft and windows 10. Games, apps, apps upgrade, can be bought, even from
the microsoft store itself, with the money. So blocking me from buying 360 games seems kind of odd. There isn't any need for a credit card to be involved, there isn't any fee they need to charge every month, there is nothing to renew. That alone tells you
not to put in your number if their asking for it when there isn't a need for them to have it. Also yes,even if you own the game you still cant buy any DLC for it with money in you account.

 

The money you put into your account is known as " Microsoft credits" that's why I called it credit.

I totally agree with you,it is a bit silly that you can't buy 360 stuff on the site or an xbox one using your Microsoft credit.

There's bound to be threads asking for this so just add your name to the list or start your own thread suggesting it if there isn't one as it's the only place someone from Microsoft will see it.
