Could I expect to play online with series x and one

There's no doubt that I'm going to get the new Xbox series x, when it arrives. I want my Xbox one S, in my son's room. We sometimes wants to play call of duty. Could I expect to be able to play online between Xbox series X and Xbox one S.

I took it as obvious, since I guess we can play PC and Xbox, but my Playstation friends doubt about that possibility.

nope, most if not all current games on xbox one will be playable on the series x, eventually there will be games release just for the series x and they wont be playable on previouse console versions.

Xbox one s and Xbox one X are the same family, series x will be the new console and eventually (a couple of years down the line hopefully) games will only be release on the series x family so the xbox one x will not be able to play them.

Hi thank you, that gave me a lot more insight. So if I need an XBOX right now, it would be a XBOX one X, since it would be able to play games developed in the near future for Series X. Thanks

Most likely yes but the xbox one wont be future proof aka wont be able to play certain games in the future the xbox one x will be it will eventually turn into an older console but still will be able to play the game the series x can

Thanks for reaching out to the forums. We see you have question on crossplay for the Xbox series X. As there hasn't been anything mentioned officially. The games that have crossplay now, should work on the new console. Only thing I can say is stay tuned
for further information on the feature for the new console.
