Could I download the digital version of a game using my disk

I was trying to reinstall a game that I used to play 5-6 years ago on a disk. I moved since then and I think the disk got damaged and now will not reinstall fully. It always stops the install at the same point and will not continue. I was wondering if it is possible to use the disk “license/key” to install a digital version of the game to play when the disk is inserted. Don’t bother responding if this is a stupid question I just want to know if it was possible

Hi, I hope you're doing great despite the issue you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

There is an option to install a game digitally but you'll still need the disc inserted once fully installed so you can play the game since the license is on the disc itself.

To do so, you'll need a mobile device. Please follow the steps below:

1. Launch/Install Xbox App on your mobile device.

2. Setup your console. If it's already set up on your Xbox App simply search for the title of the game.

3. Press the game and click on "Download to Console".

4. Once fully installed insert the disc game to play.

Do you have any friends that own a disk version of the game? You could always install it via disk, then just hit download on his digital version. This will over ride the disks data and make it a digital copy. Might solve the issue if the full digital download
data is corrupting somehow and saves your buddies time in having to re download.

Have not bought anything but Mass effect and Arkham city were a good price. Probably just buy the disk versions of the games though as I prefer disks over digital downloads. Don't get me wrong digital versions are just as good as disk versions but my preference
is game disks, something tangible to keep.

Did you get disk versions or did you get digital versions of these games do you know? There is likely updates for these games that will need to be downloaded at the very least, as well as updates to the console itself. If they are digital versions and not
disks, these games can be any wheres from 20-60 gigs or more to download. The speed of this really depends on your download speed and the qaulity of your connection to the internet. It could take a few hours or a day depending on your connection to download one
game.

I bought the disk version of bf4 and later on wanted the digital version so i can switch without inserting the disk, you don't have to re download the game if you installed it with the disk all you download is the digital license witch takes about 10 seconds.
