Do you think developers would patch the current games on XB1 now that they are able to use a little bit more gpu?

  2. Kinect taking graphics processing away from Xbox One.

I know Kinect right takes 10% of the GPU right now and its being addressed in a future patch to use less power, 2%. However, can we have the option for kinect to use no extra processing power because this is getting in the way of game performance. If I
knew I could get cleaner frame rates by removing the kinect or having the option to completely shut off, so games can use more of the GPU I would do it. All this loss is not good.

2% in the next patch is nice but we need more.

Microsoft Reportedly Relaxing Xbox One Kinect Requirements, Giving GPU Power A Boost

Unless I've read this wrong ...

But they could allow developers to use an extra 10% of the GPU that's usually assigned to the Kinect but the way I understand it, if devs decide to use the extra then surely they won't be able to add any Kinect features to a game?

Now obviously not a problem if they had no intentions of adding any Kinect features but would this result in more and more developers deciding to use the extra power but leaving Kinect out?

Again I might have read this wrong.

The XB1 does not have 10% more gpu . Thats a false statement , there is and unused overhead allocated to the Kenect that can be used for games not using the Kenect. The developers already know its there when they develop games.

  5. what i mean is could they optimize/improve the game now that the restriction of kinect is gone ?

They probably could do something small.. but on a business standpoint... not worth it IMHO... no reason to add resources and time into something so small for the outcome...

the time, money, the actual process of submitting a patch for approval...the removal from other projects... to possibly re-code an entire feature... to gain 10 FPS or a few pixel resos.. is not worth it... especially on already released games..

HOWEVER... games still in development... while their "work" is open... might have a patch upon release or might get delayed due to the extra power... but chances are they knew about this before we did.. so they already started

Yeah, they could patch some things. Mostly, at least with Titanfall, I would think they would want to work on the frame rate in the big battles more than "enhancing" any graphics. The graphics are good enough but those chugs in those big Titan battles
    can get annoying.

10% on modern hardware is a decent amount. So unlocking it should bring some small but noticeable enhancements. I have 2 GPU (same brand, very similar) I just tested and 1 is roughly 12% better hardware wise. The fact is given optimizations there is a
    noticeable different.
