If MS can pull off a nice way of doing BC with the 360 and/or the original Xbox, it would definitely move more X1 off of the shelves. I think that it would be a big game changer, and could possibly change the minds of some PS users into switching to a X1.
I never owned a 360, but I could see myself buying some 360 games.

  2. Well it would appeal to the- 'I still have all these 360 games, no point letting them all go to waste by buying an Xbox One'- market

@Avadox....B/C wouldn't be a game changer. It mainly appeals to a select group of gamers.

I have never understood the fascination. Growing up in the first half of the video game era, there was no such thing and we never gave it a thought.

    -

I say let go of the past and embrace the future. That's what next gen is all about.

I'm confused by some posters, you all make it seem like these games are forever lost and cannot be played. There are hundreds of original Xbox consoles for sale on eBay and they're going for like 20 bucks. If you really are interested in playing them,
why not just buy the console? Most of these auctions are even bundled with a handful of games.

Hello everyone Could backwards compatibly be coming :)

At the moment, my gaming room has the Original Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One set-up Could backwards compatibly be coming :)

Realistically speaking, I don't think that "Backwards Compatibility" is going to happend and if it does; it probably won't work well at all (like how most of the emulated "Original Xbox" games are basically unplayable on the Xbox 360).

I don't know anything about programming, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that creating emulators to "act exactly like the console it is pretending to be" is really really really difficult.

Unfortunately, the end product of "emulation" typically ends up in MS wasting resources / time because the emulator just flat out doesn't work MOST of the time.

With that being said, I would love to have "backwards compatibility" on my Xbox One; but it would take a miracle for it (backwards compatibility) to be done successfully.

Microsoft's primary focus should on the Xbox One and then (if MS has the extra resources / time to dedicate to "backwards compatibility") work on backwards compatibility as an added bonus.

Have a nice day or afternoon or night everyone Could backwards compatibly be coming :)

  9. The Master Chief collection is a huge step toward backward compatibility. For those that don't know it is Halo 1, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 4.

    .

Minecraft is also coming very soon. I am sure World Of Tanks will also be making its way to the X1 in the near future. More and more games will start coming to the X1.

  11. I doubt original Xbox titles are going to be made backwards compatible. Seems like an awful lot of work for something they stopped supporting on the Xbox 360.

It would honestly make more sense to have backwards compatibility for the Xbox 360. It would give people more incentive to switch if they could keep a few of their current games to play while they made the transition.

Maybe they'll announce Mercenaries and Conker tomorrow, lol. That'd be pretty cool and finally a big "surprise" announcement from them.

  14. Just making OG Xbox games compatible with the One is smart. There's still money to be made with the 360 probably for another 2-3 years. A great collection of games that don't look outdated on a console that's easily obtainable. Not saying the OG Xbox is
hard to find, it's just not as convenient and not up to today's standards for most people to go out of their way to get one, especially someone who never played the console.

True backwards compatibility is making adjustments / alterations on the console side in order to make it compatible with any game from the previous gen. TMCC doesn't do this. 343i
recoded the game to work with the console. TMCC doesn't make the console BC, it makes the game(s) current gen compatible. In all honesty, that isn't a step towards BC at all.

If they do 'backwards compatibility' [which it really isn't] in this way, then every game from the previous gen would have to be recoded to work on the One. Not a very cost effective
proposition, considering the cost of doing so vs the cost people would want to pay in order to play a game they've already purchased once.

I really don't have anything against BC per se. But I have a pretty big collection of 360 games I'd want to play if it did happen... but I won't want to play them bad enough to
re-buy them all again, which is what would happen if they don't make the console itself BC.
