  1. Cost versus value? Betrayed?

Most EA games, especially RM PGA Tour, a badly done, unfinished game and the devs refuse to answer any replies. I'm finished with EA, that's why I'm not buying Battlefield 1.

Correct - the online repair form will give you the correct, discounted cost (versus calling Phone Support to set up the repair.) The direct link to that repair form is here:

Online Repair Ordering System Error - 'Credit Cards Invalid'

Right, but according to this link (support.xbox.com/.../repair-process) that costs $119 versus $99. It seems like a way to make more money when they can't be bothered
to ensure the normal system works.

  4. Cost versus value? Betrayed?

For awhile, I did the whole mathematically calculating the cost of a game vs the hours I played it to "justify" whether or not it was worthy of the price. But I found out that in the end, that didn't really change my overall opinion on how much I enjoyment
I got out of that play time.

I came to the conclusion that a cents/hour type of 'value system' just isn't applicable because it simply can't gage enjoyment while playing. FE, if I played Skyrim for the same number of hours as FO4 (just for the sake of making a point) and paid the same
for both, but I enjoyed my time with Skyrim more... now what? Where's the mathematical "proof" that Skyrim is "more bang for my buck"? Where's the proof that FO4 isn't? Does that mean I shouldn't play FO games anymore?

And what happens to the cents/hour equation if I get fewer hours played in Skyrim because other games came out and I wanted to play them with my friends... so I ended up being distracted and slowly drifted from Skyrim to the point where I just moved on?
But... now that I think about it, I liked it better? Now what if a new FO and a new TES released on the same day and I could only choose one? Using the equation at face value, I'd end up getting a game that I'm more likely to enjoy less. So should I choose
a new TES game because I liked that setting more, even though FO4 had been the mathematical "better value"? Nope, I'm going with what I know I like more, even though I like both.

Now for my final rambling on that subject and I'll shut up about it... lol... I love both the Halo and GOW series (with 1 exception each), but I'm sure if I did do the math, I'd find I probably put more hours into certain games out of each than the other.
But there's no way I'd feel ripped off by one of them just because it worked out to have more cost vs value than the other.

As for your friend, his own value system will have to be what it is. It's his prerogative to feel "ripped off". MPO... regardless of cost vs value, if someone has spent 1k hours playing something they're that disappointed with, to the point that he's thinking
legal means. Well, let's just say that I believe he is of average height... and can be found in the 10' end of the pool.

Also, tacos are so good because 11 herbs and spices... wait what?

  6. ^What kind of question is that!? Of course we do. I just pulled a package of shredded cheddar from the fridge and looked... and it said "Made with real milk" right on it. One can't make fake cheese from real milk... and besides, a cute little Chihuahua I
saw on TV a few years back made me believe...

@ A Blue Illusion, did the cents versus hour system on this particular game to try to drive a point home to my friend...unless you're a masochist, I imagine you'd stop playing a game well before the .08 cents a hour mark; know I've stopped playing certain
games well before a hour. Aside from Fallout, can't think of any game I've done the math on in recent memory. Lol.

@Genchy, as A Blue Illusion has mentioned..."a cute little Chihuahua" can make anyone believe REAL cheddar cheese in my fast food tacos. ;-)

    Peace, J.R.

Yes, but not on just this game. The price difference in many countries between disc version games and digital games is huge across the board. I'm looking at picking up Recore today. In NZ, Microsoft charges $79.40 for the digital. EB Games $59.99, and JB
Hi Fi only $54. Now that's like a $20+/- saving. I'm only considering digital only because of this Play Xbox Anywhere stuff. Microsoft knows they can charge what appears to be above RRP for games because Xbox Live is the only legit place and sole online service
for Xbox consoles. But with digital, you won't have to worry about your disc drive playing up or not being able to read it (that Philips disc drive on original Xbox 1 consoles is dodgy. Microsoft probably just went with a cheap disc drive. I read the Xbox
1 original model is not designed to be placed vertically due to choice of disc drive).

I checked out Star Trek Online. That Zen money DLC is ridiculous. There's a NZ$129 option for like twenty something thousand zen money. I paid NZ$24 for a few thousand credits/money once for Forza Horizon 2 just to get 2 really cool cars. Companies can be
real greedy, or maybe because they have high operational costs. But Microsoft has over 100 billion dollars in assets according to Microsoft search on Wikipedia.

i think of video games as investments, sometime they have good returns, sometimes they don't, not really worth getting my underwear in a bunch over or grabbing pitchforks and torches.

I also have fallout 4 and have not spent a lot of time on it (much like Dark Souls 3). Having said that, I don't feel ripped off with them. I'm sure I'll get a second wind and continue with them both at some point.

The game I was ripped off with was Battlefield Hardline. Huge BF fan but something there just really didn't sit well with me. I'd be surprised if I played it for more than 3 hours. Junk.

  14. Ninja Gaiden 3 springs to mind... I mean, I somewhat still got enjoyment out of it, but I kind of hated myself for it as it was such an unfinished piece of trash, haha.

I checked out how much Recore costs from Microsoft. In Australia, they charge them only AU$49.95. But in NZ, they charge $79.40. NZ$1 = roughly AU 97 cents. So this is indeed a rip off for NZ. I should just go to JB Hi Fi (which is an Australian/NZ retailer)
and they sell the disc version for NZ$54. I'll trade in Quantum Break as I hardly play it and save even more. NZ$54 = AU$52.48. I checked JB Hi Fi Australia and they're selling it for AU$49 which would be NZ$50.42. Even EB Games which tends to be the most
expensive retailer is selling Recore for $59. So yes, Microsoft is ripping of NZ on Recore. The option has crossed my mind about moving to Australia, since NZ citizens can live school and work in Australia indefinitely without requiring any visa something
which other countries would need, due to the relationships our two governments have. Wages and the cost of things are just much more fairer in Australia.
