Cortana has lost all functionality and just hangs unless I use my controller and push the button to talk and even then it is rarely works. There is zero support at Microsoft for this issue. Zero information, I will probably just turn off Cortana.

 

With every update Cortana seems to get worse. The only thing Cortana can sometimes successfully do now is turn on/off the console and open apps. Sometimes you can play songs, but navigating through apps like you used to be able to do seems to have been completely
removed from the functionality, rendering Cortana pretty much useless because why use Cortana when you have to use the controller for 90% of the things you need to do in an app. Absolute fail on Microsoft's part.

 

I think you're being unfairly nice with that comment. All kidding aside, there's a distinct pattern to Cortana on every Xbox I've seen (5 now) ranging from the 360 to the One X:

You: "Hey, Cortana. <ask her to do something>

Cortana (beeps): "..."

You: <repeat what you earlier>

Every.

Single.

Time.

There's theres an 80% chance that no matter what you say, she'll search for it on the web. A good example, is she'll give you the example to use "Show labels":

You: "Show labels."

Cortana: "Let me look that up for you/Would you like me to search for that?"

You: "Hey Cortana, open My Apps and Games."

Cortana: "Here a few things I found on the web."

Today she responded by displaying, State of Decay 2. I know it's not me. I enunciate very clearly. Alexa and Google Assistant never have a problem even when I'm drunk.

Honestly, the only thing she gets right every time is "stop listening". If Cortana's an example of the direction AI may be going, we have no need to worry about AI taking over the world. At least in Cortana's case she'll be too busy looking everything up.
