    Cortana Vs Xbox Controller

Hello, every time I use Cortana to turn off my Xbox One my controllers won't sync/connect to the console when I turn it back on later. The controller won't turn the Xbox back on, either. And yes, I've tried this with 2 different controllers. Literally
it's an annoying cycle of wasting 10 minutes each turn-on to get my controllers recognizing the Xbox One again. The Xbox searches... the controller searches... and neither of them find one another. Then all of a sudden it'll work out of the blue. If I don't
use Cortana to turn it off then it works perfectly next turn-on, which leads me to believe it has something to do with Cortana.

Anyone else having this issue? I know the simple fix is to just not use Cortana, which is fine because the new voice system takes 5x longer than the previous, but I like using the voice commands and prefer not to have a system that's broken.

    Try the following things please:

If you have Cortana set up - "Hey Cortana, Record that" or "Hey Cortana, take a screenshot" (can be used with Kinect or a headset)

If you use Xbox commands - "Xbox Record That" or "Xbox take a screenshot" (used with Kinect only)

Press the Guide button on your controller and select X or Y to take a screenshot or recording

Is there any timetable as to when Microsoft is reintroducing working voice control?

    Hi

If you go into the settings section and disable Cortana the console will switch back to the legacy Xbox voice commands.

    support.xbox.com/.../cortana-voice-commands

    "Revert to Xbox commands

If, for whatever reason, Cortana isn’t what you want, you have the option to go back to the original voice control model using the "Xbox" command. When you switch, here’s what you’ll lose:

    Headset voice control

    Expanded commands and voice recognition

    Voice-to-text input (dictation)

You can bring back Cortana at any time.

To revert to the original voice control model:

Double-tap the Xbox button to open the guide.

    Select Settings > All settings.

    Select System > Cortana settings.

In the snapped window on the right, highlight the On switch, and press the A button to turn it to Off."

    Kinect Not Consistently Controlling TV

Hello, do you have Cortana enabled and are using the "hey Cortana" commands ? If so try turning Cortana off and use the regular "xbox" commands to test if your Kinect then has better control.

It's also a good choice to set up the Kinect again in the Kinect options on your Xbox One.

Using Webcam Mic for Cortana on Xbox

    Hello Pan,

The webcam mic's will not work with Cortana. The program is set up to go through either a Kinect or headphone mic unfortunately. Maybe in the future they will have this feature available.

With Cortana, you can use a headset with mic for voice control, in addition to the Kinect sensor. It works the same for both, with one exception: "Hey Cortana, Xbox on" only works with a Kinect. So you’ll have to turn on your Xbox with a controller
    if you’re using a headset.

    Thanks,

    Brad

2 Cortanas in the same room.

A harem of Cortanas huh? Well i will be getting hololens for that!

From what I gathered both xbox and windows Cortana will respond to "hey Cortana" so that is where it may get a bit messy. It can be toggled off but i am guessing some people and myself wouldn't prefer to do that.

It would be great if only one Cortana was needed to control both xbox and windows 10 no matter what device i am on.
