If I am in a Party and only then will I use a headset.

Kinect was unplugged about 6 months ago due to the constant and super annoying going to the One Guide when nothing of the like was said. Oh god I hate that thing, what an intrusive and frustrating piece of garbage.

I have now recovered from my fear of heaven forbid saying anything remotely close to "x-socks something something"...

Yea my kinect isn't going anywhere. I don't use a headset half the time so it's still my main means of voice commands.

None of you guys have ever had that happen where it hears nothing remotely close to the One Guide but opens it up right on top of what you are playing? Truly aggravating when playing anything Online and you die because you can't
    move your Character.

Oh well bad luck or good luck I guess.

It is annoying when a kinect decides to take something it thinks it heard and open up some random command on it's on.

I've had that happen too, so going by the last few replies, I'd say 3 out of 4 people have experienced that. I'd also guess that's why 3 out of 4 people have no use for kinects. lol

I personally don't use Cortana on my phone or PC, so don't see myself using it on my Ones either.

Use Cortana on my phone constantly, and find it very useful. On the P.C. very seldom. Was amusing on the X Box for a short while last time it was on the preview, though don't see being used that much or being a system seller.

Cortana is just a big boring frustration.....

Kinect voice commands were fine (i'm not saying it was perfect),but Cortana is a big step back, except if you are looking for Bing search....

    "Hey,Cortana play Elite Dangerous"

and it snap and starts to search using Bing and found stuffs about Star Citizen.

    "Hey,Cortana go to setting"

    "Which one ?"

    "Just go to settings"

    "Which one ?"

"Hey Cortana just obey and shut up"

Let's hope,in a near future,we will able to switch off Cortana and use Xbox voice commmands (and vice versa).

    .....

Xbox one marketplace is cool now,way better.Like it.

I'm looking forward most to the redesign of the Game Collection in this update. As it is, I have to scroll about a half a mile (0.8 kilometers?) to the right to reach the Ready to Install section. A nice problem to have, but still.

As for Cortana...meh. I've had good luck with the Kinect voice commands, but nowadays it seems we only use them to pause/play a movie or live TV. I never use them during gaming, so for me commands via headset won't be happening. I guess only time will
tell if Cortana commands become obnoxious over general chat.

I've hardly ever used the new Kinect, but I would have constant problems with the 360 version thinking I said something when I was just talking to someone in the room. I think my wife and I had more fun *** with it and laughing at its mishaps than we did
using it for its intended purposes.

Cortana Voice Commands Through Headset in Next Update

I haven't had Kinect randomly open apps since the first few months of X1's life in 2013/14. Only problems recently is that it sometimes decides not to turn on with the console causing me to reset. I use voice commands but Inot for everything ( joining parties
or seeing if someone is online) which is a feature I'm looking forward to with Cortana. I also have the digital tv tuner and media remote which is another reason is never be without Kinect.

I went to the midnight launch for Xbox 1 and have Kinect. During the first 2 years of having Xbox 1, I NEVER used the included mic in 2013 and 2014. I only used it twice when one of my friends begged me to and that was last year. This year I got a Turtle
Beach 500x with DTS 7.1 game sound and chat, which I can use BOTH on Xbox 1 AND Xbox 360. With Xbox 360, I have to hook up a chat cable though to chat.

The new Kinect is fun. Especially with Kinect Sports Rivals, QR codes, voice commands (not 100% perfect but good enough). Now we can look forward to having conversations with our consoles ^u^, after all our phones can talk back to us (siri, google).

There was a lot of criticism regarding Privacy with Cortana on Windows 10 PC version, as she has access to pretty much everything on your PC and is stored in the cloud or something. I used Cortana once on PC before deactivating her and switching my locale
back to my country. She is kwl. But we shouldn't have to worry about the Xbox version of Cortana. It does state in the Xbox toc, that 'if your acquired your membership outside of the US, then your countries laws apply'. I even read in one article that the
NZ privacy commissioner would be keeping an eye on it. This was the Cortana version for Windows 10 PC.

I think many Australians/New Zealanders may temporarily switch our locale to US/UK when this Update releases, as I read it will only be available to certain countries. It was the same thing when voice commands came out on Xbox 1. It was available in Australia
and since Australia/NZ are close countries with little time differences, I decided to change my locale temporarily to Australia. I know several NZ peps would have done this too. I think their excuse for not releasing it to common wealth English countries which
include Australia/NZ is because of this dialects and accent nonsense. But a few months later, they rolled out an Update which allows NZ locale to use voice commands.

I remember once when I played Forza 6, someone's gamertag was Xbox Bing or something like that. I went, wow, Xbox Bing.... and guess what.... Kinect took shrunk Forza 6 and took me to Bing.... it was like the few times which voice commands worked perfectly!

    Cortana hearing other players

Sounds like Cortana is hearing voice commands through the headset which a new feature that was added with the update. Try turning down the volume a little on the headset so Cortana won't respond to what's coming out of the headset.

Seems not all features of Cortana will be available just using a chat mic

    www.xboxoneuk.com/.../new-update-now-available-for-preview-members-2

Here are a few of the things Cortana can do:

Cortana supports natural language instead of the use of specific phrases or commands. Just say “Hey Cortana” and ask her a question or give her a command!

Use Cortana and voice commands from your headset; no Kinect needed!

Kinect owners can ask Cortana about things like time, weather, and sports scores. For example:

“Hey Cortana, what time is it”?

“Hey Cortana, will I need a jacket today?

“Hey Cortana, did the Golden State Warriors win yesterday?”
