Now another reason to buy the Kinect-less version.

I better not hear a peep about this failed peripheral(Kinect) at E3.

Sweep it under the rug already!

Sounds like Cortana is hearing voice commands through the headset which a new feature that was added with the update. Try turning down the volume a little on the headset so Cortana won't respond to what's coming out of the headset.

 

Astro A50 Mic no longer working after March System update

This fixes the mic symbol.

First make sure your Headset is updated to the most recent firmware using the astro command center.

Next make sure your Headset is assigned to your profile under Kinect & Devices / Devices & Accessories. - This fixes Cortana commands and voice to text.

Next disable Cortana then re enable Cortana it will make you restart your Xbox both times.

That should work.

I have an A50 and just figured it out this evening, cortana is working great and voice to text is great too.

 

Interesting, I wonder is this was the reason Cortana took so long to come to Xbox One?

Makes you also wonder, why didn't MS just include a cheap plug in Mic that stands on the Xbox One itself so it would be User Optional of use or not?

 

So I won't need my Kinect to use voice commands anymore?

 

I find this hilarious.

I remember all the old discussions here where someone who didn't want a kinect would suggest that voice commands could use the mic in the headset and some one would try to convince them it was impossible even though anyone
with a brain knew that it was.

Nothing new,i do this since 2013.

But the "new" dashboard shows games or DLCs being downloaded,that's cool.

@ Goth, lol. You could use voice commands through a mic that was connected to the controller way back on the Dreamcast so I don't know what they were thinking lol.

I love using my Kinect for voice commands especially for recording clips, but if we don't need to use it for that any more than I don't see much point in owning it.

 

Watch everyone fawn over kinect when paired with oculus VR goggles for motion tracking...my prediction for the future.

 

I haven't used the Kinect in about 4 months, but have no complaints with it. I'm one of those that would mute my headset mic before barking voice commands; can't say the same for some, and only see it getting worse if commands can given though the headset.

I'll agree with Burnin TODI on V.R. giving the Kinect a revival...at least with the newer, more powerful system coming out shortly. ;-)

FINALLY

Is it already out for those who have Kinect? Or will it release next update? It would be kwl if it responded using Kinect. Just like with Voice Commands.


Xbox 1 does have a Windows 10 like UI, and Windows 10 has Cortana. Our phones can talk back to us, so it would be great when Xbox does.

Here are a few of the things Cortana can do:

Cortana supports natural language instead of the use of specific phrases or commands. Just say “Hey Cortana” and ask her a question or give her a command!

Use Cortana and voice commands from your headset; no Kinect needed!

Kinect owners can ask Cortana about things like time, weather, and sports scores. For example:

“Hey Cortana, what time is it”?

“Hey Cortana, will I need a jacket today?

“Hey Cortana, did the Golden State Warriors win yesterday?”

 

My headset cant sign me in automatically before I sit down, my Kinect is staying where it is..... Most of the time I don't wear a headset anymore anyway..
