Cortana voice commands inconsistent, mostly not working

Before I switched over to using Cortana, my X1 was really responsive to voice commands. Now she almost never understands me. No matter how many times I re-calibrate, I pretty much have to stand in front of my Kinect and scream into it. I can tell she hears
when I try to turn it on me because the light goes on. I can't get her to respond to changing channels, only turning on live TV. I really wish I could go back to just Xbox on.

If you try enabling
Cortana voice commands, are you able to bring up the Settings menu using "Hey Cortana, go to Settings"?

 

Is there any timetable as to when Microsoft is reintroducing working voice control?

If you go into the settings section and disable Cortana the console will switch back to the legacy Xbox voice commands.

If, for whatever reason, Cortana isn’t what you want, you have the option to go back to the original voice control model using the "Xbox" command. When you switch, here’s what you’ll lose:

Headset voice control

Expanded commands and voice recognition

Voice-to-text input (dictation)

You can bring back Cortana at any time.

To revert to the original voice control model:

Double-tap the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select Settings > All settings.

Select System > Cortana settings.

In the snapped window on the right, highlight the On switch, and press the A button to turn it to Off."

 

you can, just go to the cortana menu and disable her, the system will revert to the original xbox commands.
