  1. Cortana update killed my kinect voice commands?

I went to use my game DVR to record the last 5 minutes of gameplay of my game, but it needed an update before use. So I thought nothing of it and let it update, but then it needed to reset my console. Once that was done, my console turned back and my dashboard
got a whole new look and now my kinect voice commands wont work and this new cortana update is making my experience a living hell. It doesn't listen 85% of the time, and when it does listen, it doesnt give me anything thats even remotely related to what i
    originally asked it to do.

Is there a way to make Kinect my default for voice commands? ive never had a problem with kinect voice commands at all! Or am I *** and forever doomed to deal with this cortana update?

    :)

    Xbox One/Cortana update doesn't work

Cortana voice control was automatically updated this week on my Xbox One console. Voice commands quit as soon as I accepted the updates. I reset the console and Kinect (Settings, Kinect does not hear me), neither worked to activate voice commands on Xbox
One. I went online to search for solutions. One given was to turn off Cortana. I cannot turn it off using my controller or Xbox Glass. The batteries are new in the controller and all other functions work perfectly. What do I do now?

    Turning off voice commands completely

Voice commands will only work if you have a kinect or a headset. Cortana has to be turned on first before you use her voice commands, and if you do not have a kinect, then the Xbox voice commands will not be turned on.

October 2019 update broke the Kinect

Well, Cortana is no more for Kinect. That feature was removed like around the previous update.
Exactly, here is the information for the official patch notes:

    Hey Cortana, it’s been real

With the October update, Cortana will no longer be available on Xbox, except as the digital assistant on the Harmon Kardon Invoke intelligent speaker.

However, voice interaction will still be possible for those with a Kinect sensor, using the Xbox voice commands. For a list of original voice commands, see

    Xbox voice commands with Kinect.

Any device with Amazon Alexa can also be set up to use voice commands with your Xbox. To see how, visit

Set up Alexa for Xbox One.

    Kinect is dead.

As mentioned, the Kinect voice commands still work just not the Cortana ones. So voice command wise, it will still work the same as it did when it released.

October 2019 update broke the Kinect

Right, hence my "goodbye Cortana" reference, but voice commands and Kinect sign in still work, as does the sensor.

My issue is the Kinect is not powering on with the console, as a result of the October update, so something was changed to cause this issue, and Microsoft needs to fix it.
