Cortana Popups on Xbox One

Hello, since this last update I'm getting these constant pop-ups on my console telling me Cortana this or Cortana that. I'm getting them at boot up everytime I boot up my console. Also when somebody invites me to either a chat party or a game invite, that
as soon as I get the invite I get a Cortana popup almost instantly which makes it impossible to auto accept the invite using the guide button. How do I stop this from keep happening?? Please help.

To use normal "Xbox" commands on the Xbox Console you'll just need to disable Cortana. That should remove any Cortana popup messages on the console as well, here's the steps to do that. How to

Xbox One Cortana Says She Didn't Hear Anything, but she heard me say Hey Cortana

Cortana on Xbox One has stopped working suddenly. I can still wake up the Xbox with Cortana, but once on, every time I say 'Hey Cortana', the Cortana box opens and immediately says "Sorry about that, I didn't hear anything" then closes.

Anyone know what's going on and how to fix it?

 

Hey there!

If you go into your Settings menu then scroll down to
System, go over to the Cortana Settings option. If you open that up, the Cortana sidebar should open and you can turn off the helpful tips menu.

No, that does'nt help. When I go to the settings for the Cortana I get the options "I agree" or "no thanks". And since I do not agree to have it on my system, I chose "No thanks", right from day one when they first presented Cortana months ago. Now since
this LAST update, I am getting the pop-ups to telling me to use it. Why am I continuing to get them if I already chose NOT agree to it?

It's really frustrating because I can't accept invites , whether chat or game invites using the guide button because the pop-up from Cortana immediately comes on after I get the chat or a game invite pop-up and completely disables the invite pop-ups. And
it seemed to have started right after the update that we just received. I never had this issue before.

 

Hey there.

If you enable Cortana, you can go in and disable the notifications in the way I outlined above. Once you have done that, you can

power cycle your console and then go back in and disable Cortana. That should hopefully remove the Cortana toasts that crop up occasionally.

Let us know if that works or not.

Thank you for responding, but alas I am afraid your advice will NOT work in my situation. I get to the screen where it says it will gather information from me and I get two options, I AGREE or NO THANKS. So, obviously, since I do NOT agree I click on NO
THANKS. That's where it leaves off and it goes back to the main home screen. So what you are telling me is that I am forced to agree whether I want to or NOT to have it enabled, JUST to disable it? Why give me the options to agree or NOT agree IF i am FORCED
to AGREE?

Second, On the forum i have FORUM REPLY notification to MY email address turned OFF. but yet my daughter is getting notification to HER email address saying "Someone has Responded to Your Message on the xbox live forums" I am not getting them because my
are turned off and so is hers.. but her account is completely separate from mine and she is NOT even involved with my post what so ever? Why is SHE getting them if our accounts are completely separate?

I did some digging and noticed that
you asked this same question several months ago. In the interim, it appears that there are new options for disabling notifications through the Settings menu that you can try. Open your
Settings menu, navigate to Preferences, then
Notifications. Open up your App Notifications then uncheck all the options for Cortana. If that doesn't work, you'll need to try the steps I've outlined before we can try anything else.

Regarding your email notifications -

Can you provide us a screenshot of your notification preferences for the forums? And can you check your
Microsoft Account to be sure that you don't have any extra aliases listed there?

yes I did ask that question before but the problem went away on its own after the next update. but now the problem is back since the last update and it's WAY worse than it was before because it keeps popping up over top of other pop ups. I tried your suggestion
but your advice does not correspond with the settings on the dashboard. all I'm getting is that screen that says I agree or disagree to having them collect my information.

okay I checked it again and in the place where you are saying there's a button that says "Cortana On" that's all, telling me to click on it to turn Cortana on which I do not want to do because I disagree with it. Kinda sneaky way to get Cortana turned on
if you ask me. Anyways as far as the email no other connection between me and my daughter email account she said she hasn't been getting any more notifications as of yet

 

If you select that box that says, "Cortana On" (which isn't saying you're going to enable Cortana - it's letting you know that Cortana notifications are currently on), you'll be given the option to disable Cortana notifications. Then when
you back out to the prior screen you should see "Cortana Off" showing.

Good to know you haven't gotten any further unwanted emails! Let us know if it happens again.
