  1. Cortana is a bust

Out of the gate, Cortana is a bust. The new 'Hey Cortana' moniker was supposed to resolve issues with the Xbox hearing us, but my testing shows it is usually worse despite rerunning audio setup multiple times. Particularly, Cortana appears
completely unable of responding when the TV is at a decent volume. Many of my interactions involve raising and lowering the volume and turning the TV off and on. Couldn't get it to turn on at all when off (yes, instant on is enabled).

Guess I'll cross my fingers for future improvements.

    :)

  2. Jigsaw is a bust!

Jigsaw simply does not work. Rarely can I get it to work anymore. I have played with Jigsaw for years, but recently it simply does not work.

    Manage Squads is a bust

Haha, I know what you mean. After playing the bfbc2 beta, I knew this game was meant to be played with real life friends only. So after I harassed them to download it, we fought through 2 games until we were all on the same squad. But in that game, there
was just a really loud static hissing sound that we couldn't make go away. So they gave up and now I look like an idiot.

    Cortana is a bust

    Cortana works fine for me.

It's a little gimmicky with the name but now I can talk about the XBox in Parties and mention the console I'm playing on aloud.

  5. It's improved significantly since Cortana first launched in the preview program, so I'm sure it will continue to improve. Initially, she didn't hear or respond to a thing I said. Now, it works well. Occasionally, it's a bit slow to respond, but it's not
    a major issue for me.

  6. I agree so far. It's sluggish.

I also own an amazon echo, which also uses the cloud for parsing, but that reacts as if it's local (and it's a slow little computer inside).

So it's possible to be net connected and feel local, but cortana is not. Since we are all used to the instant response (and much higher accuracy) of the old xbox voice, it's quite a step back.

I'm trying it a little more out of curiosity but will be disabling it soon. It can't even get "watch tv" right most of the time!

I tried it once on my Xbox 1. It by far is no where near as good as Siri and Google Now on smartphones. And when you ask it funny stuff or something, it says sorry I can't find that information on the internet. It could try Google it is like the most common
and biggest search engine out there and I'm sure that Internet Edge browser app which Xbox 1 is a web browser. Cortana Xbox 1 is not even available in NZ/Australia locale. Yet Google Now and Siri have been for a while. They will role out Updates for it on
    Xbox 1 though.

Thanks for your feedback. Most of my commands are turn on, turn off, adjust volume. I may try again on the Turn On - after a dozen attempts, I couldn't get it to respond at all (even walking right up to the Kinect!). No volume or channel adjustments
at all with TV on, while the Xbox commands respond just fine.

If you cant have a same or better experience with Cortana on for basic TV functions, then it has to stay off. Again, a big disappointment, because "Hey Cortana" was supposed to be more responsive, not less, than "Xbox"
