Cortana does not work

Updated my console and everything appears fine apart from Cortana which does not work at all! Tried all various resets, reconfigured Kinect etc. just nothing - if I turn off Cortana old commands work fine. Seems to be more reports of this hitting the web
now, so I assume another update will be on its way or does anyone have another soloution? Cheers.

Yes u did try calibrating the kinect sensor. No dice... I don't own a headset and using one would defeat the purpose of what I would use cortana for anayway. I know that I can disable it, trust me Already have since the other members of my household were
getting frustrated that no voice commands were working at all. I turned off cortana and everything was back to normal. The original voice commands started working perfectly.I would really like to try and avoid doing a factory reset. How much of my settings
and and profiles would I have to go back and set up again? If it's alot I really don't have the time to be doing that just to get cortana. No thanks.

Thanks for the additonal information. Have you tried
Calibrating Your Kinect Sensor recently? If not, please try that and see if it helps. Could you also try using Cortana with a headset to see if the feature works that way? Alternatively, if you'd prefer, you can disable Cortana and revert to the original
Xbox commands. There is a guide for that
here.

Another suggestion would be to attempt to
Factory Restore your console to see if that helps resolve the issue.

Yeah,should work.To be honest I turned it off but try this

Settings->Account->Privacy->Apps->Speech->Collect Voice Data...needs to be enabled.

I'll give it go thanks man. May follow suit and turn off for good like yourself if no joy - it's not worth the effort to pause Netflix

No I have not done a factory reset. I don't have the time to re-download all the profiles in my family and reinstall all of my games just to get Cortana. Sorry but it's true. I shouldn't have to jump through so many hoops to get this working. I have
already disabled it and went back to the original commands which worked just fine. Don't fix it if it ain't broke i guess....

What type of commands are you trying to use? Are you able to say something like "Hey Cortana, Go to Settings" and have Cortana recognize it?

Are you using the Kinect sensor or a standard Xbox chat headset?

I would try power cycling and retry using Cortana from there. First, try restarting your console. If Cortana still doesn't work, try a Physical reset (instructions
for both in that link). While the console is off, ensure that all of your cables are connected nice and snug in the back. Power the console back on and try again. If you're using the Kinect for Cortana, try running through your Kinect setup again in the settings
to make sure it's configured appropriately for Cortana to hear you well.
