    To whom it may concern,

I was wondering if someone could help me.

I live in Australia. I have a Kinect and enjoyed using it to navigate both my Xbox One and the apps on my Xbox One. However, I have noticed over the past few years that certain commands are no longer available when using the "Xbox Select" voice command.
This means I have to pick up the controller.

When I try to use Cortana I receive the message "Cortana and dictation aren't available. Cortana isn't currently supported in your language and location: Language Region: en-AU Location: AU. Check back after future updates."

It has been this way for quite a while now and it is very frustrating that the commands that were available using "Xbox Select" were removed without providing the ability to use Cortana.

However - when I check the website here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4026948/cortanas-regions-and-languages it says there is support for "Australia: English".

    What's going on?

    Pictures attached for proof.

    Thanks.

Hey Riker thanks for taking the time to bring this issue to us!

We suggest a reset of the console since the problem might be on the actual OS of the console so we would suggest a

    Soft Factory Reset
(while keeping games and apps) IF AND ONLY IF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA IS MET:

    • There is a stable network connection.
    • The information for all profiles is known (email and passwords)
Once the setup is complete it will ask if we want to keep settings or manual setup lets do manual setup. Give it a shot and let us know of any changes!

    Hi.

    Thanks for your response.

I tried that and the issue still remains unfortunately.

Any ideas on what to try next?

I'm assuming that Cortana and dictation are actually available for my language (en-AU) and location (AU) on the Xbox. I'm hoping it is.

I also live in Australia and have been waiting for Cortana to be availiable in Australia, but some how I don't think we will get it, especially now that they've

    added support for Alexa
So I assume we will get Alexa support instead of Cortana.

It is unbelievable that we have been waiting so long for Cortana support to come to Australia and it just hasn't.

In the meantime - Microsoft have gradually removed the functionality of the "Xbox Select" command that used to work so beautifully.

They did this with the advice to start using Cortana ..but didn't roll out Cortana to Australia.

That's just poor support from Microsoft.

I've come to expect this from Microsoft these days. They really just don't care about their customers anymore. Hard to recommend buying their console to others.

    Hi Diego,

First - thank you for the second part of your post that shows the link to Feature Availability for the Xbox One in Australia. Clearly, Cortana is not available for those in Australia. This is something that has taken ages to get a response on - so thank
    you.

Second - Throughout this whole thing I mentioned that I wasn't able to enable Cortana at all. That was the problem.

So I find you posting about "revert back to Xbox Commands using Kinect" completely inappropriate.

The issue here is that Microsoft has decided to completely water down the Xbox Commands using Kinect. Commands have been completely removed.

Why? Because Microsoft said to use Cortana instead. Guess what - I can't!

Microsoft has ruined my Xbox One experience and left me with an inferior product to the one I originally bought by removing Xbox Commands for the Kinect and not enabling Cortana on the Xbox One for my region
(Australia). Utterly pathetic from a company that markets itself on its user experience.

    I am not happy.
