    Cortana app on Windows 10, Android and Invoke can no longer control Xbox


    Cortana on Windows 10, Android and on Invoke can no longer control the Xbox for simple functions, such as on and off and volume, calling on Alexa through the Invoke does however function. It seems as through there is an issue connecting the Xbox Service
    to Cortana in the Cortana App now. Please explain why Alexa continues to work but your own assistant Cortana does not.

    This is not what I was lead to believe. I thought all external assistants would work, including Windows 10 cortana and invoke cortana. This is plainly ridiculous why depreciate something that works and replace it with a solution from Google or Amazon on
    a Microsoft product? Cortana hasn't been updated to reflect this change, nor the skills pages nor xbox online help information.

    I thought Cortana was merely being removed from being part of the xbox OS.

    Hi Allicit,

    Thanks for coming to the forums. This is due to Cortana has been discontinued for the Xbox. The one available is Alexa that is why Alexa works and Cortana doesn't.

    Why did this start working for a few days recently and then stop working again? My invoke was once again able to control my Xbox early in February and then stopped working again on the 11 February. Very disappointing that the functionality is still there
    and it seems to simply be a matter of switching it on or off at Microsoft's end.

    You can use the Xbox Skill for Cortana via the Cortana app on iOS, Android, and Windows or via Harmon Kardon Invoke speaker to power your Xbox One, adjust volume, launch games and apps, capture screenshots, and more —just as you can do with Alexa-enabled
    devices today.
    It would seem like yes, but, if anyone from skip ahead knows I'm interested.

    Instead, customers are encouraged to use the Xbox app for iOS, Android, Windows 10 Mobile, or Windows 10, or use services on
