Cortana app and xbox one

The cortana app could possibly add a whole lot of personality to the xbox one. It depends on how they implement it. If it's just an app, it would probably be fun for gimmick sake but not really anything useful. If it's snappable it may or may not have good
implementations there.

What if they tried to make it some core function though? I mean we dont want it always running in the background because like the kinnect (though I love it) it would be using extra processing power that could go toward our games. But like core motion controls
it could only run when a game isn't active unless launched. What if they replaced the bing tab on the home xbox screen with cortana? I mean that would be reasonable since I'm sure that you can ask cortana to bing stuff. This would add a lot of personality
to the system but what kind of functionality would it add? From playing with Siri, I think that these programs are mostly for lolsake and not very useful but this could possibly be different.

Just wanted to see what other peeps thought about this.

Why is Cortana not able to select music from my collection when asked?

The Cortana Voice assistant is pretty specific about the commands you give her.

First I would like to provide the different voice commands that you can give to Cortana:

• Cortana Voice Commands on Xbox One
• Examples of Cortana Voice Commands on Xbox One

You can also say "Hey Cortana, what can I say?"

It seems she is compatible with Spotify playlist but I can't find anything specific to having her play songs from your OneDrive.

For music downloaded from the Internet you need the Xbox Media Player App to play those files or the VLC app.

I can't find anything on our official website that states music on your OneDrive can be played as the Xbox doesn't have an integrated music player as it has partnered with Spotify.

It may be that Cortana is just not compatible for the OneDrive app.

If you'd like to try a
power cycle, it may help with the situation to fully reboot the Xbox.

Cortana always opens a web search instead of opening the app

Hi,

I am hoping I could get some technical support here.

Every time when I ask Cortana to open an app, it always does a web search for me. I am pretty sure this is a technical problem rather than a usage problem because it worked before.

I got the Kinect delivered in the morning and connected it to the console, in the first couple of hours it worked find. Whenever I said "Hey Cortana open <app name>" it did exactly that. But all of a sudden it stopped opening apps for me. Basically when
I say "Hey Cortana open <app name>", it does a web search for the keyword <app name>. Before that I didn't do anything unusual apart from turning it off and on for a few times.

I have tried switching off/on Cortana, rebooting Xbox but no luck.

One thing worth mentioning is that when I turn off Cortana and use original voice command to open an app, it works fine, but when I turn on Cortana, it always opens web search.

But yea just imagine with voice commands as a core feature of the xbox one, you talk to your xbox and it talks back.

I think it would be great if implemented correctly. I do not want a gimmick. Cortana is awesome, and with that being said either implement it correctly or not at all.

Also, another thought. Cortana is amazing. And what makes her amazing is seeing/hearing her ever few years. Do you think that to much Cortana (Halo, Windows and perhaps XB1) may be to much?

 

Yeah, I think it could be a bit much, but not yet.

 

If they could implement Cortana to work across platforms (ie Windows OS, Windows Phone and Xbox One) it would be awesome. For instance, if I tell Cortana on my phone to remind me to tell my wife I love her next time I see her and she happens to walk into
the room and Xbox One logs her in and reminds me then. This would be awesome.
