Cooling fan doesn't work in sync with temperature

The Xbox One X has a thermal sensor that tells the fan when it gets too hot.

For an entertainment device that is also used as a media player, it's important for the console to be as silent as possible. So even when you "feel" the console gets "very hot", it is not "too hot".

Should the fan fail, and the console gets too hot, you will get an error message on screen, that the console has to shut down because it ran too hot.

So unless you get an error message about the console being too hot, rest assured that the temperature of the console is perfectly fine, even if it feels warmer to touch.

The One X can get very hot, this isn't a flaw, it is meant to get hot in operation. The system can reach about 68c (155 F) when running games. This is well within it's design limits.

can use a fan to cool the Rooms ambient temperature down,

Fans do not cool rooms. They provide airflow which helps mix the air in a room to provide a more even temperature, but they impart heat to a room.



There's no reason for a new console to require a fan blowing over it to assist with removal of hot air.

It may be programmed to cool the hardware to a certain temperature before it actually turns the fans off. Not sure, mine isn't staying on, but when I touch the xbox it's not even warm
