Cool or useless? Originally this was developed to help folks w/ limited mobility/disability (e.g. amputees) use smart phones. I'm curious to see if there are use cases in gaming - e.g. second screen gaming (w/ assassin's creed, fallout 4, etc.), augmented
reality gaming (ingress, upcoming Pokemon Go, etc.).

    Appreciate the feedback!

Late Night Gaming (Minecraft or Etc)

    Hello, Everyone

I'm a night Owl, and many of my friends are younger, and in school (I'm in College). I am mostly online later at night. I'm on Pacific Standard Time, and many of my friends are on EST or MST. Likely they go to sleep or get off earlier. So if your online
late, and hate seeing your online friends number low. Add Me. Read my profile if your interested. Be kind and have some self respect as well as a willingness to just be cool.

  3. Second Screen

I love my Xbox One but seriously why can't the Xbox One be added as a second screen through my Surface Pro or any other Windows 8 device via mirracast or some other form of connectivity.

I would love to be able to display any game or app that's on my surface onto my TV screen through my Xbox One.

This should be an added functionality asap.

with second screen apps for games like PROJECT CARS its absolutely a god sent. We are finally able to have the luxuries once only owned by PC gamers. The best thing to ever happin to this gen racing games is having a second screen full of telemetry and
    apps like crew chef.

    Thank you for chiming in!

@PoppySeven54: Project Cars telemetry apps sounds really awesome! I'm guessing in that case you wouldn't necessarily attach to your though, right? It'd probably be better to have some sort of fixed mount. What's the current most popular solution?

@Azrael008uk: Yup Pip Boy is definitely in the same ballpark. However, it's more or less built specifically for Fallout isn't it?

Also, how popular are solutions like the following -

I don't have any real interest in a second screen as so far the applications for it have been uninspired. I did use the app for Assassin's Creed Black Flag... but quickly realised using the in-game map was faster and more convenient.

You don't have to look further than Nintendo's Wii U controller, which is mostly used for things that are, in other games on other platforms, an eye-twitch/glance, or a rapid button-press away.

So HUD elements and the information they convey, that used to take an eye-twitch to process, are now a head-tilt and a look away from what is actually going on in the world you're occupying as a gamer... away. S'a bit annoying.

For me it's like moving the speed and petrol guages of a car to the passenger side... when really, you need to concentrate on the road, and it's better to be able to glance at the important information you want...

... like how fast you're going, what time it is, what the temperature is outside, how much fuel you have left and how many miles it will get you. The only time I've seen the dashboard of a car improved is with the cars that project a HUD on to the windscreen...
which is closer to how games are... lol Without a second screen. But a regular dash on a car is still better than any of these designs, or the Wii U controller. Unless you're holding it up and peeking over it at your TV.

The PipBoy app is good fun, but it's still less convenient than the PipBoy on the arm of the avatar in the Fallout 4 Boston Wasteland. Bit slow with updates too. So if somebody designs a game with elements that really, really need a second screen, great.
But not many games are calling for it. Or need it. And forcing it actually makes some games worse... especially if, like the Wii U, developers REMOVE tried and true design, and all options for it, in order to force the user to use their new toy they way they
want it to be used, convenience of good game, UI, and HUD design be damned. ~shrug~ {=D

I just have it streamed to lap top setting on the table besides the tv. The project cars apps give for more info that the in game hud does. Most importantly the function it offers is you only have so many buttons on the controller. When using the in game
hud you lose 2 of those buttons for cycling thur the 2 different huds to see what you want to see. Using the app lets you see all the info possible while freeing up two buttons allowing them to be used for something else. Wipers ,or lights or what ever.

(CVG): Battlefield 3: "We can do Earthquakes in multiplayer".

It would be cool, but I think DICE need to focus on the technical problems on the game first, like sound cutting out, black loading screens, frame rate lag, etc etc.
