Controlling TV through xbox

I have recently set up TV to be controlled through xbox one s and am enjoying controlling all media through one controller rather than several remote controls. I do have one niggle though. Each time I power up the xbox I have no TV picture until I go back
to the TV remote and reselect the hdmi source despite the correct hdmi slot being displayed. I have to select a different hdmi slot and then reselect the original. Once I have done that every thing works perfectly. I have tried resets, changed hdmi slot,
cables but nothing has worked. Any suggestions?

I don't think there is a resolution. Mine does the same thing and I have never found a solution.

To control your TV with the Media Remote requires you to first configure your Xbox One to control your TV through the console settings. To learn how to do this, see Set up live TV with your Xbox One:

It cannot be due to the controller, regular tv are controlled through infrared lighting, xbox controllers work differently. i might not be dude to an xbox/ controller problem, try using your tv regularly, see if it turns off like when you play xbox. if not
then it could be due to wiring problem check if the wires are plugged in right, or maybe a friend with the tv remote is playing a prank on you

I guess you have your tivo plugged into your xbox and the apple tv is plugged into your tv. I guess one remote for that is not so bad

I have turned the option off to turn my tv and hdmi controller off when the xbox is turned off, but when i turn it on, it turns my HDMI, tivo and tv on

volume and channel controls all work fine with voice and smartglass. My Mrs can even browse tv channels
and whats on now/next without disturbing my tv viewing.

Randver is not completely correct as the xbox does control your tv/sound center etc through the IR blaster which does not require control through devices plugged directly into the xbox, but he is correct that you cant control them unless it's setup with
the one.

Obviously I can't have any knowledge on how Xbox One will work yet, but I'm guessing it won't remove TV menus options like that. You should still be able to use your remote to control options on your TV. I believe Xbox One will only control whether it's
on or not. But I am curious about how much control One will have over your TV. Can you control volume through Xbox? Can you just say Volume up or Down? I doubt it. Hence, I still believe you will be able to control TV functions through your remote or menu
buttons.
