    Controlling tv power and volume

I tried to set up my tv, vizio, to my xbox one to use the power and volume feature.

I entered in the tv code manually, and its the correct code, but nothing happened.

Do I need a kinect for this feature to work, or did I miss a step somewhere?

    Thanks for your help.

    :)

    Quick question about remotes...

Yes it is true you cannot power off or up the volume without connect due to how the volume feature works. You are controlling the volume via the infared signal in Kinect talking to your TV same with powering ON/off. Channel changing/menu changing and media
playback all work as the tuners are either coming from an app in X1 or vias USB tuners. The actual TV is separate. Hope that makes sense.

Xbox One Media Remote: is it redundant?

I dont recall the 360 media remote controlling the tv volume. Unless you used a logitech remote

Sorry but yes, you would need to have either a Kinect sensor (if you want to control by voice) or at least an IR (infrared) Extension cable plugged in (if you choose to use a remote). You can read more about it at the following link.

How adjust PC volume from 360 remote with TV support enabled?

    Thanks for your reply.

I would like to control PC volume AND power TV on/off.

It seems the TV button turns RED or GREEN depending on which device the remote will control, no? This seems true for power on/off, channel up/down, mute, and a few other buttons - except for the VOLUME buttons which ALWAYS control the TV volume. A bug?

What is the red/green TV button supposed to indicate, if not "which device is currently controlled"?

Can I connect Xbox One directly to a sound bar?

I have a Vizio soundbar connected to my TV. I ran the Audio Receiver Setup on the Xbox One and now the X1 powers on/off the soundbar along with my entire TV/DVR system.

As for volume control, if you've ran the Audio Receiver Setup then you can control the Soundbar via either voice commands or the Xbox One Smartglass App (the volume controls on Smartglass will no longer control the TV volume, however, as they'll become dedicated
to the soundbar--I presume the same may be me true for voice commands).

Xbox On/ Xbox Turn Off does not power on off the television

Removed my AVR and I can control my TV's volume with voice commands.

None of the remote codes worked to power off or on.
